We stayed at this hotel the night before our cruise.
The hotel is nice and close to the public beach.
You cannot see the beach from the hotel. You need to cross a street, then a parking lot, then go over the boardwalk. It`s a one-minute walk. This part of the beach is not overly crowded so is very nice. There was a topless sunbather while we were there. Didn`t bother me but not sure if this is accepted on a Miami public beach. Maybe she was European.
As some else said, there is road work being done in the area so driving might be a challenge.
The hotel is nice and the rooms clean. The small swimming pool in the atrium is a problem though. It is clean and cute but bad acoustics. At pool level, you can't really hear yourself talk so people tend to speak a little louder. Unfortunately, a whisper at pool side is amplified at the room level. We were on the 2nd floor and could hear people talk. I had to tell my own kids to keep quiet several times. Bring earplugs. I always do and slept comfortably.
The breakfast continental buffet was dissapointing. We were 4 guest and were expecting the buffet to be included for all 4 of us. We were told it was only included for 2 of us. We went in anyways and were dissapointed with the food choice for the cost of the buffet. Go somewhere else if you need to pay.
For dinner, there are not too many restaurants nearby. We walked South on Collins for about 15 minutes and there was nothing. We went back to the hotel restaurant to see what was available but it was empty at 5:45 pm. We were not sure if it was closed or being avoided (read other reviews about the restaurant at the Claridge and you`ll see why). We walked North on Collins and found the Carrabba`s Italian Grill about 5 minutes away. Very nce restaurant. Good food for the price. I would recommend it.
Overall, I'd say it was a fine hotel for a short stay if you want to be close to the beach. But bring earplugs and consider eating somewhere else.
