“The experience is totally awesome!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2009

On the American Riviera lies HIlton Grand Vacations Club at South Beach. The resort has been completely renovated and it is awesome, just beautiful, plush from the lobby, to the rooms, to the rooftop terraces! It is located right on Ocean Drive, but being in the 1400 block it's quiet yet central to all of Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, Espanola Way, and Lincoln Road. What's great is you park your car and walk everywhere, whether to go to the beach, to go out to eat at some 220 different restaurants or to shop galore! The staff, well, everyone treats you like family, pampering you and attending to all of your needs and desires. They are extremely friendly and are the model staff of excellence! Next time you plan to go to the white sands and pristine, clear turquoise waters of the Altlantic Ocean at South Beach, do book your stay at the glorious Hilton Grand Vacations Club at South Beach!!!

I went with my houseband, and our two dayghters (16 and 18 years old). The location of the hotel was perfect for us, much do to and see on a walking distance, many restaurants and shops. The room was very clean and well equiped, almost like a real home. Nice staff, good gym and the roof top hot-tub with a wiew thats are incredible. It was worth every dollar we spend there, and I will recommand this hotel to my friends. I would like to go back, this was absolutley our best vacation so far, and we have been traveling a lot!

We stayed 5 nights over New Year.

Reservation via Hilton website was easy we got a prepaid rate of around 350 USD per night... not cheap, but note that this period of the year prices are at least double compared to summer.

Greatest asset of this hotel are the rooms itself : renovated, spacious suites with well equiped kitchen, nice sitting area, okay bathroom and a good bed. Since they are kitchens in these rooms, you will have to cope with neighbours that are preparing full meals in there suite, which lead to strong food smells in corridor and quite some noise because of interconnecting door... The fact that rooms are large and have ktichens, make it apparently a great choice for families with kids. Besides that, rooms were really good.

Besides the rooms, well, there is little to tell about this hotel, since there are virtually no other facilities : no breakfast service, no bar, no restaurant, no communal areas besides the rather small lobbies in both buildings. Oh, there was a roof tub on one of the buildings... but really not inviting since small, no view, and always occupied by other guests.

Location couldn't be better though : right at the beach and on the nicer side of Ocean Drive. Strange though that they did not give any service for beach-goers... I noticed that other hotels (eg Pelican) offered free beach chairs and towels, but not so at this hotel.

Although I had to call every day to ask for housekeeping to pass (they seemed to forget it every day), service in general was prompt, efficient and friendly.

All together it was okay, but we don't think we would return to this hotel.

I now know that I am not a fan of south beach. That said, the hotel has a great location across from the beach. The room was very small for 4 adults. 2 queen beds and a one room kitchen living room. The square footage was very small. There was a small whirlpool on the roof but no where to sit outside.

I stayed here in July 2007 for the first time, using my timeshare points. We had a great time and the location was great, so we looked forward to coming back again. Going back this year we found that the hotel had recently completed some renovations that improved the look/styling of the rooms. Our room decor was very stylish and nice. The flat screen TVs are great additions and the room felt very comfortable and large, almost like being in your own apartment.

The only issue that we encountered was the construction going on on the neighboring hotel which unfortunately brought load noise into our bedroom early in the morning. We also were able to hear the plumbing from the neighboring room or the room above us.

I traveled to Miami with friends and there were 6 of us in total so finding accomodation that could fit all of us in one room was a bonus. We knew that the rooms were mini suites, complete with kitchens, but little did we know just what was awaiting us!

Check in was a breeze and all the staff were always very attentive and helpful to us, especially Alex at the front desk. Our room was on the 2nd floor and while it didn't have impressive views, the room itself was enormous and provided great space for all of us 6 girls (and you can imagine just how much luggage we all had).

Location is great, with the beach just about 5 minutes walk away, the great restaurants and bars of Ocean Dr a few minutes' walk too and great shopping not far at Lincoln Ave. The hotel has a lovely front porch which is great for chilling in during the afternoon and watching all the people pass by.

The kitchen in the room was incredibly well stocked, with every appliance and tool that you could need as well as crockery, plates, etc. We did not cook while we were there (as that was the point of the vacation - time away from cooking and being moms!) but the fridge was very useful and indeed we could have eaten in more had we chosen too. The bathrooms were both very large which was a big plus considering there were 6 of us getting ready and the beds were very, very comfortable.

All in all we loved this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

One nighter for Wife and Husband...no kids in tow. Although the actual name of our resort is Hilton Grand Vacations Club at South Beach, The name on the outside is Ocean Plaza or The McAlpin. They are listed in the National Registry of Historical Sites and are required to preserve their original names.

Location: A great location at the end of Colins Ave. Close to the action. We stayed on the first floor just behind the front desk. I was a little worried about that, but it turn-out fine. Our room was a mini Suite that we could have lived in for a week with small family without issues, except (read problems).......

Rooms: #1102 Clean, very new, with lots of recent upgrades. New kitchen and bath area, Hair Dryer, ironing board and bed. Loved the layout with the sleeping area in the back. Full sized fridge too.

Service: Staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. Check-in and Valet was quick and efficient.

Pool: Hot Tub is on the 4th floor. Outside... pretty cool. Its small (limit 4 strangers or 6 close friends), but filled with friendly folks ready to move over.

Problems:
The plumbing main for waste, must run directly through that bedroom. Every time someone on the upper floors flushed a toilet the sound was if we were in the bowl. Very LOUD!

Gas (chlorine ?) smell in hallway. Just about knock me out (I own a pool so you must know this was *really* bad) I dont know what the issue was and why it was there.

I've rate this hotel so low because of the noise
