I'd like to echo the recent reviews of this hotel and emphasize some aspects. First, the front desk was manned during the day by the ever-pleasant and accommodating Ray, who, despite the 4 pm check-in was able to facilitate having us in our room 3 hours early. Kudos to him!
There are two separate buildings which comprise the hotel. We were in suite 314 of what was the former Arlington Hotel (the section that does NOT have the lobby), in a pool-view suite with two balconies, one in the living room and one in the bedroom and the ocean was clearly visible from both. A real plus. The suites are not luxurious but are kept super clean and attended, lots of room and closet space, a mini-fridge, wet bar sink and microwave, upscale bathroom amenities.
The pool is mainly attended by Alex, another fabulous employee who was always so friendly and accommodating. The Savoy is also on the beach side of Ocean Drive. While we didn't make use of the beach lounges and umbrellas, we could see they are plentiful and well serviced. There's even a sandpile and toys for the kids.
The location, just a few steps below 5th and Ocean puts the Savoy, as was previously mentioned, out of the hustle and bustle and raucousness of the strip above 5th where music blares loudly from many restaurants. We totally appreciated the quiet!
The GM, Gary, is a friendly, approachable guy and is happy to discuss the hotel's history and its philosophy of service and attention to customers.
The Grill/Restaurant/Bar is welcoming and casual with both patio and indoor dining. We had breakfast twice and it was well-prepared and reasonably priced. There is no room service but they are most happy to box your order to go; just call up, order and go down to collect it. If you prefer you can even ask someone to deliver it and they will oblige. As I have said, they go out of their way to make sure guests are happy.
And we were!
