“Jan 15 - 17th -- Very Nice Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

The Lord Balfour is a GREAT hotel. I was traveling with family, friends, and business partners. We chose the Lord Balfour as a post-cruise option and we're definitely not sorry that we did. This hotel is down towards the quieter section of South Beach which is nice for a good night sleep.

Upon arrival we were greeted promptly and assistance was given with all of our luggage. Being greeted with a smile is extremely important in hospitality and we definitely got that here. Check-in was a breeze. Although our original room wasn't quite ready when we arrived, they quickly found an available room for us that happened to be overlooking Ocean Dr. Quite the nice touch if you ask me.

The hotel lobby was charming and artfully decorated. The artwork in the lobby changes often and is one of the best themes of the hotel.

The rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated with Lord Balfour's Mistress in every room. ;) Ask for the details during your stay. It's quite the story.

The bathrooms are very small but very typical of hotels in that area and there isn't much they can do because the city of Miami Beach dictates the room sizes, etc. (Historic Property Regulations)

The staff are all very happy and accommodating and truly made our stay great.

One nice little secret about this hotel is the Lanai which was perfect for eating the selections found at the continental breakfast which had plenty of selections and things to fill that hunger gap after a nice walk on the beach.

The hotel also has beach access w/ chairs. Very nice for spending the day on the beach across the street.

I would highly recommend this hotel for Families and professional travelers who enjoy a comfortable, clean, and very safe hotel for a stay in one of the hottest areas around Miami.

Room Tip: If you want a romantic get-a-way, splurge a little and go for one of the suites. There are only a f...

LIKE
- LOCATION - Ocean Drive, all interesting places and the beach in short walking distance;
- STAFF friendliness;
- Hall and room fancy DESIGN;
- Whisper QUIET air conditioner and fridge;
- Linens and towels;
- BEACH convenience - the hotel provides towels and beach chairs under umbrella;
- Hotel quickly RESPONDS to emails and answers the questions.
DISLIKE:
- BREAKFAST - a menu should be reconsidered; kitchen appliances updated, and staff additionally trained/disciplined.
- ROOMS SOUNDPROOF - I heard the guests' voices from the corridor, connected room, ground floor breakfast veranda, the sounds of closing doors in corridor and so on.
- Didn't find a bag's rack and the note paper and a pen.
- In the room, there is a coffee machine only. What about tea lovers? Simple kettle with coffee and tea packs would be better.

CONCLUSION
After some improvements will be great hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid connected room

Had never stayed before. Had a meeting in Miami so the wife and I figured, why not. Great hotel. No pool, but you're 1 block from the sand and ocean. Funky little place. The staff is OUTSTANDING. As someone who travel a lot, I can tell you they truly stood out. We'll be staying there again and recommending to others as well.

I enjoyed my stay at Lord Balfour in Miami Beach. The Staff at the hotel where very friendly, helpful and accomodating. The hotel is in a very convenient location. Close to the Beach, shopping and an array of restaurants from high end to moderately priced. Will definitely book this hotel again for future trips to Miami!

Room Tip: The rooms are on the smaller side, so if you need a lot of space, you'll need to book the larges...

My wife and I spent 2 nights at the Lord Balfour after a cruise. The Hotel is clean and modern and has a great location on Ocean Drive at the southern end of South Beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are not very large, but we weren't in the room a lot, so that wasn't an issue. As a mater of fact, the only negative was that we weren't there long enough to properly appreciate the hotel.

This hotel was conveniently located on Ocean drive in South beach. The hotel itself is very funky, artwork everywhere & staff are very friendly. To get the the beach was only a 1 minute walk & the hotel has a section of the beach with complimentary sun baking chairs for the guests of the hotel. Breakfast was nice, better than other continental breakfasts we've had in the past. The only down fall was the room, the bathrooms are very tight & the rooms are not soundproof at all, you here the people above you, bellow you & any other noise from the street. If you are looking for piece & quiet this is probably not the hotel for you. We were only there for 1night do it was ok for us.

Thank you "Connielee11" for staying with us and for your review. I understand your comments about room size and insulation, our hotel is located in a historic building from the 1940's and when we renovated we had to comply with the rules of the Art Deco Preservation Society.
Not all rooms are the same size and we have few noise problems, our staff addresses excessive noise immediately in order to secure a pleasant and restful night for our guests. I hope you give us another try.

Had a fantastic stay at L. Balfour. Darryl provided some ver good information. It is on the expensive side but it is Miami, everything is expensive. Avoid Ocean drive if you want to have a good time. Highly recommended.

The Lord Balfour molds well into the rich diversity of Art Deco styles as its exterior is marked with forms of the industrial era.
