“Does the job”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We went to the MBRS with four other couples, one of whom has stayed there for years. it's the old Doral. The north beach area of Miami beach is quieter and more spread out than in south beach and it's actually a few degrees chillier in March. The hotel has been redone in the public spaces and our room was freshly painted, good king bed, and a beautiful view of the ocean.

The staff were pleasant but not great on the followthrough. We arrived at 2 pm. Our room wasn't ready. My husband asked them to call us when it was. We got back to the hotel 2 hours later and our room was ready. No call was made. We rented a refrigerator, and when we were done with it, I asked them to take it away. It took 2 calls to get it done.

On the plus side, the pool is very nice. I see some complaints about the shaded pool. Every pool in Miami Beach will be shaded for a certain amount of time each day because of all the buildings blocking the sun. The pool was delightfully warm and inviting. And this hotel costs a LOT less than others in Miami Beach. A big selling point. If you walk down 41st St. there are plenty of stores and restaurants. I'd go again.

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your comments regarding our Resort's facilities and sincerely welcome your constructive comments regarding our staff and our services. While our lobby and public spaces have not been redone as you mention in the review, our team takes a lot of pride maintaining the original look and the marble floors impeccable.

I would like to apologize for any shortcomings our stafff had during your stay, it is certainly not a norm for any guest request to take longer than 10 minutes or the call from the front desk to have never happened. Both our Front Office Manager and Executive Housekeeper are working diligently in making sure our staff responds more efficiently to our guests needs.

If there is anything I can do to insure you are 100% happy with our resolution to your concerns or if I can help with any other request, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at emoya@luxuryresorts.com

I stayed at the the Miami Beach Resort and Spa for 4 nights in March 2013. While the hotel is a little "tired" looking the rooms were clean, the staff was extrememly helpful and pleasant, and the food was quite good.
In my haste to check out on my last day I left my iPad in my room. When I returned to Toronto I called the hotel security. Gabriel Hernandez, the Security Manager was very helpful. I want to thank the House Maid Marietta Villar who cleaned my room that day and turned in my iPad to security. It is nice to know that honesty and integrity is alive and well. Thank you Marietta.

We stayed in this hotel in January 2013 overnight after 12 days on the Queen Elizabeth (that's another story!). The Miami Beach Resort and Spa is a pleasant hotel to stay in. It was a little bit jaded but to my mind that added to it's Art Deco charm. We particularly liked the clock in the lobby.

The outside pool bar served amazing burgers and cocktails and we would reccommend eating there.

Our room was huge and we were pleased with the view from the 10th floor overlooking Miami Beach and Miami City, together with the river and it's fab houses and boats. As our flight back to London wasn't until 18.30 we were able to stay in the room for a small extra fee.

Breakfast was amazing - all sorts of food. Restaurant was very clean and all the hotel staff were very friendly. All in all a good stay for one night,

Room Tip: Get a room on the higher floors.

Hotel is looking tired, staff not the best The sun is blocked out from the pool area for at least a couple of hours after 1pm this is caused by the hotel next door which is around 30 floors or more and very close, food is average

This was our first time to Miami and I'm glad I chose this hotel. There are 3going restaurants in the hotel one has a breakfast buffet which was great and a great value. Nice outdoor pool with a great bar which had good lunch foods and a great view of the ocean. The valet service was great nice staff. We got an ocean view room it was amazing waking up and going to bed watching the ocean. The sun rise was breathtaking.

Although this hotel is nice clean and tidy the food is very average except breakfast which overpriced was nice with a good selection we ordered food twice in the restaurant and twice the fries came out cold despite the waitresses being told that we had cold fries the night before This hotel is a $10 taxi ride to good food in south beach beds were very big and comfy bar area is small and overpriced $6 for a can of beer Reception staff very friendly and helpful. those who say it's dated are right but you have never been to a Spanish hotel There is nothing around the hotel except the beach which is clean so any shops or food you need to go to south beach good 1 hour walk or taxi as above

Room Tip: Stay closer to south beach

This is my third stay here in that the location for me works well. However, it will be my last stay. The room is outdated, the tv small and old. The bathroom is small as well. Pool area is plain, and the outdoor restaurant is like a "greasy spoon". The Fountainbleau which is a mile south is far superior and the difference in price is not that drastic. The staff is nice and eager to please.
