First impression this hotel is very impressive. The main level is beautiful. Check-in was a little rough for us. They took our bags immediately (very good service), but a long line at the desk and our son was crying. Some blond woman running a union event at the hotel started harassing us about our son while we were waiting to check in at the front desk. We finally check-in, get a room upgrade and wrist bands. We had to wear the wrist bands even though it didn't seem that much like a resort (no inclusive food, etc). The room was very nice, but we had to pay extra for a refrigerator ($5 per day). The walls are a bit thin and you can hear an occasional plane flying over. The rest of the hotel needs some updating, but nothing to really complain about.

The main pool is heated and very nice. The kiddy pool is not heated, but might be nice in the summer. The beach area outside the hotel is great, but has a company separate from the hotel that charges for beach chairs. That's fine, we didn't use their services, but enjoyed the beach very much. The restaurants in the hotel and nearby are very expensive and so-so. We would take a taxi or bus down to 17th street for better food options. There is a store in the hotel that has small breakfast items for less than the restaurant. However, if you have resort credits then the restaurant has a great buffet for $17 per person.

The spa was hard to find, but seems to have a lot of great services. Overall we had a great time and would definitely go back again.

Dear Reviewers,

Our management staff respectfully requests that you ignore this review as it is clear this individual is not talking about his experience at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa. The Resort does not have any record of such incident mentioned in the review. The reviewer also clearly mentions the parking rates of another hotel which is higher than ours.

We welcome all reviewers to read the Miami Beach Resort's other positive and negative reviews.

Thank you.

On arrival the place looks great. The rooms are spacious but the bathrooms are very dated and our bedroom door was poorly fitted with a huge gap.The beds are only double size. The hotel advertises it's olympic size pool.....olympic size it's not,but it's a good size with lots of sun beds. The bar has THE most miserable lady behind the bar but it's a good place to sit and the views are great.

We arrived the hotel at 1030pm to door men and a shotty red carpet leading into the lobby. We requested a king bed months prior since it was our annaversary only to not be given any other option than two twin beds upon arrival. The room was filthy and appeared to have never been renovated since the grand opening of the hotel decades ago. We woke up at 2am to our water pipes shaking violantly. We called down stairs and noboby seemed to care. They did finally send over the maintenance manager Jose who blammed the shaking pipes on the high winds outside then later to when he shut off the boiler . Well, being on the 4th floor and pipes shaking on the most inner wall due to wind did not sound possible in a 20 story building. We immediately requested a new room and given one after finally convincing them "video on cell phone" that there was a problem. Go to find out, the shaking pipes was a result of a broken valve in one of the restrooms downstairs. The new room provided was even more filthier then the first. The bed sheets did not cover the old heavily soiled uncomfortable matresses. After calming down my wife and selecting the cleanest of the 2 beds we finally went to sleep at 4am. In the morning we called for a late check out since our sleep was interupted. The hotel manager was very accomodating and even offered us breakfast for the terrible night. We proceeded to our free breakfast in the morning to find everything from sausage to bacon to pancakes dehydrated and poor at best. I am so glad we were only booked for one night prior to our cruise. At $250.00 a night "after paying the resort fee" you should expect more!

Got this hotel through Hotwire. Miami Beach is an expensive place and this was a decent deal. Arrived late at night and stayed two nights before cruise. Hotel room was decent with adequate bed and other amenities. Door was too tight and required hard pushing to open. Bet our neighbors loved the loud noise this created!! Right on the beach for quick and easy access.
Downside is high cost of food in hotel restaurants and not being close to anything more reasonable. Had planned to rent a car at MIA and drop off in Miami Beach. Was cheaper than taxi. Then found out this hotel requires valet parking at $28/night. Blew the rental car idea out of the water! Plus a ridiculous resort fee of $12/night.
Would consider staying here again for an overnight before a cruise.

The good: this hotel has beach access and a pool. The bad: the location, the options (or lack of) nearby, and the customer service was inconsistent. This hotel, which is in need of a renovation, is located north of south beach, which is a 20 minute bus ride away. You can catch the bus across from the hotel and ride to south beach for $2.

If you look for dining options or entertainment nearby, there is very little. On a Saturday, I went looking for breakfast and walked for over a mile before finding La Brioche Doree, a french cafe. It would have been nice if the concierge had mentioned that most of the businesses were closed because they cater to the Monday to Friday workers. I recommend the quiche Lorraine, which was close to authentic. Aside from that cafe and Walgreens, there wasn't much else open.

I was in Miami for work, so I didn't have time to venture out for meals, so I had several in-room meals and one meal at the hotel bistro. This meals were nothing special and overpriced as you would expect, but one meal was pretty subpar. I ordered a meal, which arrived cold. I asked for a warm meal and the meal was delivered with a hair on the plate. When I asked for my money back, I was told that would be no problem, but I had to speak to the front desk twice before they took care of it.

Other things that took away from the experience - Internet access for 20 minutes for $5 plus a $1 a page for printing. You are charged a $1 for the receipt. A bit pricey if you ask me. They do have free WIFI though. I wish I had known.

On the beach, you can rent chairs for $5 until 4:30. I came out at 3:15 for a chair but I was turned away and told they were closing at 4 pm. I pointed out there was time and I offered the $5, but I was told that hotels routinely close at 4 pm. However, in full view of this same hotel worker, I walked down the beach to the next hotel and was given a chair and allowed to sit there with other customers until 5 pm. Between this incident and the hair\meal, I was turned off of this hotel for good. The beach access is not enough to overcome all the bad points.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevator and the ice machine and on a high floor facing any where but t...
