Wow! In over 100 reviews on TA I have perhaps commented on the cost-benefit of the food two times…but this is worth a mention. VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET.
The food is good, but not worth it. I question if it is really possible to differentiate Chinese cuisine to a large extent. As such, how can you justify charging 5 times more for essentially the same dish at Mr Chow versus PF Chang's…but they do…
I liked the food very much…just not the exorbitant price I paid for it. Certainly not 5 times more. The service was good…not 5 times better than PF Chang's. The dining area was cool…very white…tables too close to one another…and too noisy…for an extra $250 give me the dim lighting and pony at PF Chang's.
I live in Rio de Janeiro and we have a pseudo-Mr Chow franchise there (run by the same people of Mr Chow) called Mr Lam. It is the most expensive restaurant in Rio, owned by former billionaire Eike Baptista. It is a really cool place…far better than Mr Chow in Miami…essentially the same menu. I did not do the math, but it may be cheaper to fly to Rio, eat at Mr Lam and fly back to Miami than to eat a Mr Chow in Miami…you figure it out.
Concluding: the glam factor is not worth it.
