“TownHouse gets the important things right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We used TripAdvisor reviews in making our decision to book a night at the TownHouse hotel in Miami. This place gets most important aspects of a hotel stay right. The service is prompt and courteous, valet and bellhops are efficient, and the lobby, rooms and halls are very clean.

Visitors should know that the rooms are very minimalist and don't have a lot of space if you have lots of luggage or (as someone else pointed out) need a counter in the bathroom for makeup, shaving or hair products. If you are used to standard Holiday Inn accomodations you will be suprised.

You'll also be surprised to find that the exercise facilities consist of a stationary bicycle at the end of the hall.

It took us a little bit of doing to figure out how to operate the light over our bed. We eventually found a short in the cord, and when we called the front desk we received prompt attention. The lights are not very bright in the room and it would have been nice to have one or two more of them. The bed did not look like it would be very comfortable, but it was better than many hotel beds.

The location is very good. If you walk to the right out the front door you're just a few steps from Miami Beach. If you walk to the left, you're just a few steps to Collins Avenue, which has lots of stores and some eateries.

The breakfast was described as French. The front desk clerk started to call it a continental breakfast and stopped and corrected himself. I wasn't sure why he did that (aren't they the same?), but Vive la différence! I've never had espresso at a hotel breakfast, which made me very happy. There was crusty bread and croissants and some very nice muffins. There were also hard boiled eggs. The nutella on the tables was a nice surprise, too. If you are the kind of person who likes to start the day with a big bacon-and-eggs spread you might be disappointed, but if you just like some good fare to get your engine running (like I do), you'll be all set.

The bikes that are available for guest use is a nice idea. We would have borrowed them if it had not been raining the day we were there.

All in all, if you really want to experience Miami and Miami Beach, the TownHouse offers a good location, good price and clean place to sleep.

Currently staying here for 8 nights while on holiday in Miami. It's in the perfect location, just yards away from the beach & on Collins Avenue next to plenty of shops & restaurants. The value is perfect for those not wishing to spend a fortune but still stay in a lovely hotel in a top location. The rooftop terrace is great for sunbathing & relaxing. Couldn't recommend more :)

Would you have someone who doesn't like coffee rate different brands? Having tried the townhouse I really don't like the "minimalist" design. Others may like it but it felt like a jail cell to me. I'm going to some positives and negatives and give the property as a whole and "average" you can make your own decision.s

Positives,
1-Price
2-Location- there is one building between you and the baech, the back of the Shore Club.. The location is on the North end of S. Beach.
3-Front Desk was helpfull.
4-Breakfast was fine, simple but fine.
5-The roof top is nice, but is kind of wasted. I believe thay have a bar two nights a week but it was empty when we were there. We understand that they may be putting in a pool and hot tub which would be a great addition.
6-There was a promotion (find it on TA) of free bike rental if you book direct. We rode all the way to the port and it was a great way to see SoBe. However they only have 4 bikes, so you can't always get one when you want.

Negatives
1-Rooms, I just don't like the concept. The outside of the window was dirty (and I don't know how they would wash them as it overlooked the building next doors roof. The verticals in the book were broken. The bath was fine and the mini frig was very cold.
2-Their section of the beach is not directly behind the hotel but down about a block. Many hotels had free ice water for their guest. Ours had to be bought.

Overall,

We weren't all that impressed with SoBe and doubt if we would go back, if we did would stay at another property. One with more traditional roooms and that had a pool.

Room Tip: We were on the south side which overlooks the roof next door, The north side would overlook the str...

I am so sorry to hear there were some things you did not like here at the Townhouse. We are happy you recognized the pros of location, price point and breakfast.

We do realize there are alot of choices here in South Beach and there is a hotel for everyone. We are sorry our minimalistic decor did not fit your needs.

The Townhouse values our customer reviews and wished we could have met your needs and expectations.

Thank you to the great folks at Townhouse for a great time, and a very special thank you to Rafael. The staff here is very attentive to guests' needs and the hotel is a guaranteed comfortable, stylish stay. Have stayed in other Ocean/Collins hotels and many of the rooms are not as advertised. Townhouse was a pleasant surprise.

We stayed here over new year and were very impressed. We had booked a hotel in downtown Miami but cancelled at the last minute to be closer to the action for new year. There is valet parking when you arrive. It's run by an outside company and costs about $27 a night, but it was good. I did read some reviews before we left that some of the valet guys drove quite fast. When I handed over the keys to my rental car I was confident that they were more interested in the various exotic sports cars than my SUV!
We were in a standard room, which was average sized, although quite spartan. The white tiled room suits the warm Miami weather. Plenty of space for hanging and storing clothes, and tons of space under the bed to slide bags into.
There are cross trainers at the end of the corridors if you fancy a quick workout, we didn't!
Free breakfast downstairs, and free tea and coffee all day as well.
The hotel is less than fifteen minutes walk from Ocean Drive, and ten minutes walk from Lincoln Road. When we are next in Miami Beach,we'll try here again.

We have just returned from three nights at the Townhouse Hotel and we can't wait to go back. Our excellent experience started when Georgia, the lovely manager, honored the very good price shown on TripAdvisor, even though technically it wasn't available on the nights we were coming. At check-in, it was "no problem" to give us our room even though we were three hours ahead of officlal check-in time. And when the room we were originally assigned smelled of smoke, no problem (again) to move us -- and give us a free upgrade at the same time!

Our room was incredibly light and airy, and clean as a whistle. The red-and-white decor is adorable. Breakfast is delicious (fresh croissants! 3 kinds of preserves! hard-boiled eggs! unlimited do-it-yourself lattes!). The common areas (lobby lounge and roof deck) are gorgeous. The location is perfect -- lhalf a block from the ocean, and iterally across the street from the Settai ($645/night).

Honestly, in just 3 days the Townhouse Hotel has become a destination hotel for us. The only thing that will prevent us from coming back will be if that great TripAdvisor special isn't available!

I stayed at the Townhouse over Christmas.
Location is great, it's just away from the main areas but a 5 minute walk down Collins to Lincoln and the restaurants and shops. It's also just a minute away from the beach.
The hotel isn't luxury but it does stylish basic very well. The room was large and bright.
I arrived at 9.30 in the morning having emailed in advance to check that I could leave my bags there way before the 3pm checkin. They had asked the maid to get the room ready so I checked in pretty much straight away and got some well needed sleep rather than having to kill 6 hours. I was very great full for this.
I didn't have much interaction with the staff but what little I did they seemed friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: I was in room 214 it seemed quiet. It was on the side road. I think if you are facing Collins it m...
