Miami Beach parking is a challenge and expensive. This was our first trip to the Miami area and I was a little disappointed seeing so many cigarette butts on the beach and empty pop bottles lying around. The beach was very nice but I preferred the beaches of Varedero and Honduras.
I really loathed South Beach. Allegedly "upmarket" hotels that were like Ibiza dives with their loud music. The worst service of anywhere I have ever been in the world. Irish Bar Finnegan's Way very good though, and also The Setai for lunch and drinks.
a great placed to spend a few days, great beach, great architecture, great people watching, great food and drink...and the whole area is small enough to see everything in a few days.
Enjoyed the touristy shopping and just walking the strip. Fun for the kids to run across the shop of Miami Ink aka Love Hate!
The tourists don't quite have the American etiquette of the beach. Let's just say if you lie somewhere, expect somebody to lie literally right next to you. If they spoke English I would tell them to move over but I had to move 2 times because somebody would intrude on our sand!!!
