Owner description: People watching is a great pastime in Miami's South Beach, which draws celebrities and beautiful people in skimpy swim attire to see and be seen. The wide and fine, white sand-covered beaches are popular spots for fashion photo shoots, so you're sure to see models. The area is known for its hip clubs and wild nightlife as well as numerous excellent restaurants.

“We love the Miami beaches!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

We visited several Miami Beach areas and loved all of them. The boardwalk is especially nice although you cannot see the beach in many places from the boardwalk because of the vegetation! The wave action is very subtle and the depth gradually tapers off shore. They are very enjoyable!

“Not the Carribean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

OK, I watch too much Miami-based TV shows. I expected the water to be turquoise and the sand to be white. Actually, the sand was Florida-grainy and course, full of rocks and shell pieces, and the water was cold and opaque. We were poised to cover our children's eyes, but luckily we only saw one thong and a few naked children: lots of Europeans don't believe in bathing suits for kids before puberty (and some even after). A pretty area, though, with the hardscaped pedestrian walkway behind the beach area.

“SoBe”

The beaches at 3rd and 4th street on Ocean Drive are great. Clean, not too populated, and terrific sights. If you get hungry, you can go to the Pink - not too far away.

“Nice”

This is the beach area you always hear about in Florida. It's legendary but it can also be crowded, depending on the season. You gotta go at least once.
