“Nice Option away from South Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I originally choose the New Hotel thinking that it was in South Beach. When I learned that it actually was in North Miami Beach, I was a little disappointed; that is until I checked into the hotel. With quiet surroundings, close proximity to the beach, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, free parking, and other amenities, the New Hotel offered me and my guest a nice alternative to the busy environment in South Beach. This is now my first choice when I want to stay outside of South Beach!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the pool. The pool area tends to get crowded and night and can become noisy...

This hotel room was dirty with dark moldy stains on the bathroom door trim. The phone and some of the lights weren't working. There is a nice restaurant and people hanging out outside at the bar, but it is hard to get help or service. When I had some trouble with my car, the owner had nobody there to help me and there is nobody around the clock there available if something comes up. The location is good next to the beach, but there is no parking, so you have to use the city lots. The furniture looked modern, but was worn, old, and not maintained well. The owner and restaurant chef were friendly, but the hotel is run very casually.

We found this hotel last minute while driving around North Beach looking for accommodations. The location is great, literally a 5 minute walk to the beach and close to many restaurants and amenities while still being far enough away from the craziness of South each to get away from the super touristy areas.
The hotel features a lovely secluded courtyard with a pool and a bar, and being a gastropub they serve a large assortment of food as well. They also have a ridiculous drink menu including many kraft beers and cocktails. One afternoon we acted as drink testers for their inventive mixologist as we sat by the pool and relaxed.
We had room 5 which is on the ground floor right near the pool and were initially worried that the noise from the bar at night (which is open to and popular with the locals) would keep us awake. But with the air conditioning on it was completely sound proofed.
The room itself was beautiful and modern, the usual boutique hotel chic. It was very clean and the kind sized bed was so comfortable. It was tempting to just lay in bed and watch tv, something i don't even do when at home.
The staff was fantastic, very friendly and accommodating, and Tia our bartender was extremely helpful in recommending drinks and places in Miami to check out.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed two of our nine nights in Florida here and I would recommend it to anyone going to Miami.

Very noisy because of the partying at night by the pool
dirty because nobody is up in the morning to clean the mess left at 2.00 am by the party crowd
have to wait for 10 minutes in the shower to get hot water
forgot my jewellry in the room before checking out and could never get it back, I was told very bluntly to go to the police

Very nice hotel with friendly Ma and Pa owners. Resturant is also excellent. Rooms were well furnished and clean. Only downside was poor shower. Otherwise would stay here again for sure. Also the bar area is a great hang out and many travelers and locals come in it at night. The nightlife is great and you don't even have to leave the complex. A++++

Friendly staff. We stayed in room no 3 and didn't hear noise from the beer garden/bar. We only heard people walking above us, but we slept well. Airco worked fine. Room wasn't big. The floor in the shower was clean, but looked broken.
The beer garden was nice and we had a tasty burger (according to my husband the best he had during our two week stay in Florida) and sampled some very interesting beers.
Free parking next to the building. Free wifi worked well. Beach is only 5 minutes walk away.
We were allowed a late check out. Very nice, so we were able to spend some last hours at the beach and shower before our flight back home.

The new hotel is in a safe quiet location in North Beach, which for us was much nicer than the scene in South Beach. I loved that we could walk from our hotel to breakfast, to the beach and through the local park. You could check in for the weekend and have a nice quiet getaway without driving anywhere. We checked in late and the restaurant was still open, I loved the pizza, it looked pricey at first but it was not considering what you get. Our room was simple modern and clean very Ikea which I like. This hotel doesn't have a lobby or anything like that but the pool area although small is really nice for relaxing. The bakery around the corner is addicting, Sazon was awesome great cuban food and there are other nice local restaurants huge park on the beach and a noodle shop in walking distance.
