This memorial is an incredible piece of art. Some take issue with the information presented, but instead of reading every plaque this place is best taken in as a art experience.
Take time to stand on the platforms at the edge of the reflecting pool. The artist designed the reflection for a reason. Is the hand reaching to us? to God? to help? to beg? to reach? to lift? to climb? Intense and amazing.
However, it's serious. (Obviously) the subject is an outrage, heartbreak and tragedy but many visiting South Beach aren't prepared for such reality.
