“What A Lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

Just got back from the most wonderful lunch we have had in many years.
My wife took a group of 14 women for a Lunch and Museum tour in Miami.
Chef Julie Frans made us a wonderful fresh salad from her organic garden.
The rest of the lunch was exceptional.
There was not one complaint from 14 women was was just as amazing.
We will return!

“perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

4 of us dined on the porch/terrace. The service was exceptional and food second to none. The venue fells very special, with a calm spacious yet up market feel. there was no sense of being rushed and the waiter (young man from Haiti) was knowledgable about the menu and explained certain items which we were unfamiliar with. This is certainly a place for a special evening, rather than just somewhere to eat.

“Completely Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Essensia is a true Gem in the midst of the Miami bling.
My husband and I had the most amazing dinner at Essensia restaurant last Wednesday night. The meal that we had, created by Signature chef Julie Frans, was the best we've had in years. Every appetizer that we tried (Thai soup, ceviche, kale Caesar salad) were all to die for. It was so good that we didn't want it to go to waste, so we stuffed ourselves. We didn't think that we would be able to eat our ordered entrees (snapper and the filet) but when they came, they too were unbelievable. We managed to eat everything. The flavor combinations and freshness of the ingredients made it a truly memorable meal. This is a place that we would eat at every night (if we could afford it!) and never get tired of the amazing fresh combinations. We will be going again soon and bringing any guests or family to enjoy it with us.

“Nice Buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

Very nice restaurant/lounge. Went here for breakfast and ended up getting the buffet. The buffet had a lot to offer for the money. If you ordered separately say 2 items it would cost more than the buffet. So, my tip is to get that because if you ordered say a cup of coffee, a side of bacon and a bagel with cream cheese - it definitely would cost more than going to the buffet.

“Absolutely fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

Perhaps it was just that it was a great night - our last night in Miami Beach this trip, a quiet Sunday evening that was the great warm February temperature that is pleasant and not too much like it will be in two months. Sitting outside on the veranda it was magical. It felt like Cuba to me, but only if Cuba was much nicer (or maybe if it was still 1959)!

Essensia's chef grows much of her own ingredients, and where there is very little dairy or meat, she is very good at improvising to make any dish work around dietary restrictions.

The olive paste was so good we ordered extra later. The bruschetta was wonderful. The fish (snapper for me) was superb, but my favorite was the Thai lemongrass soup with a coconut broth that was brilliantly seasoned to not be spicy but to be deeply infused with a wonderfully complex set of flavors (yes, a soup!).

The location is a bit far north, but still walkable from the South Beach art deco district hotel strip.
