Before I start this review let me tell you, we are well traveled..across Europe, Asia, South America and the Caribbean. So staying in less than perfect accommodations is nothing new for us. We are not picky, never expecting 1rst class service or state of the art rooms. And we always check "trip advisor" and keep an open mind when booking a hotel, knowing other reviewers may be much pickier than we are. Even after reviewing "trip advisor", however, this hotel was a complete disappointment!!!
This was our third visit to Miami, last time we stayed at the Red South Beach, which wasn't perfect, but we enjoyed it and would stay there again. We chose Ocean Reef this time because of the location and the kitchenette. And honestly, the location is awesome and the kitchenette saved us a small fortune as eating out here is very expensive. BUT, this hotel is sooo dirty( perhaps worse than a $20 per night hotel we stayed in while in Kuala Lumpur!!!) The bathroom was covered in pubic hair, which we cleaned up, and every time they serviced our room the bathroom was recovered in hairs cause they use dirty rags!!! The towels always had long dark hairs in them(my husband and i are both light haired..they didnt come from us) The build up of dust, grime and dirt moved us to clean up and disinfect the room before we got settled. The rooms were noisy, you could hear the person in the next room blow his nose like he was sitting right next to you( which seems to be the norm in Sobe hotels). The pillows were nasty and old and smelled like sweat. The bed was full of dark hairs too. The sheets didn't fit the bed and the walls were dirty and dingy. The hallways are filthy and tired. Regretfully, this hotel was a bust!! It was tolerable, because of the spacious room and the kitchenette and great location. But if I were you I would stay elsewhere if you are looking for a hotel in SoBe!!!

We take customer service very seriously because, over the years, we have built a reputation that was the product of a sincere desire to serve and to provide our guests with a wonderful vacation experience. If our work doesn't reflect that then, we need to review it. Be sure, we will.
