“four bad points..........”

Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach

We were recently “forced” to stay here by our client because of our other hotel was overbooked for one night. I was hesitant to stay here because of the bad reviews. I must say they were accurate. I had contacted the hotel before our arrival and mentioned that we would like an early check in around 11 A.M. As a Starwood gold member I did not think this would be a problem. We were greeted by a rude staff, who told us it would be about an hour, 5 hours later we were assigned a room. (one hour after the regular check in time) Once in our room we were greeted by dirty carpeting, outdated furniture, seafoam green walls, and a dated bathroom. This is my first and last visit to a Four Points by Sheraton . If you like rude staff, dated rooms, screaming kids and dirty carpeting this is the place for you. Thankfully we checked out early the next morning and went to our other hotel.

My wife and I stayed here pre cruise. I used my Sherton points as it was convenient to the cruise port and on the beach. Arrived around 12:00 friday morning. On my way to the hotel, i called the front desk and asked if the room was ready and was told that our room was ready. Upon arrival (and after watching the employee fumble for 5 minutes) I was told that a room was not available, this is not the way i wanted to start my week. We drove around Miami and found a restaurant to eat at and when we got back to the hotel, the room was now ready. The lobby was nicely appointed but the elevator was as described in previous reviews, slow as molasses and very old, i actually feared for my safety. My first impression upon entering the room was "oh my, what have i gotten myself into". I felt like i was in a time warp and was magically wisked away to the 1960's. The room was cleaned properly but had a strange lysol type smell that was overwhelming, as if the previous tenant had died and they were trying to mask the odor. We had a beach view which was very nice, we quickly opened the door to air it out. We settled in and went to the beach, very nice beach, we spent a few hours there and had a great time. Had dinner at the hotel bar, had a nice conversation with the server who I believe was from Costa Rica. Dinner was OK. Slept very well (as i always do on the Sweet Sleeper beds). Checkout was painless, our bags were taken by the bellhop and the car was quickly retrieved by the valet.

Pros:
*other than the check in experience, the staff on the whole were very kind and accomodating. Valet service was very quick to retrieve our car, etc.
*beach is very nice and accessible
*close to cruise port and airport
*great location if you want to experience Miami
*Room was clean and bathroom was somewhat updated (using this term loosely)

Cons:
*Room smelled terribly upon arrival
*Room was extremely dated
*Check in was pretty slow and person seemed uninterested and unknowledgeable
*20 bucks to valet seemed a little ridiculous

Overall, i would stay here pre or post cruise only if I was able to use my Sheraton points, otherwise, there are currently 107 hotels in this area that are potentially better.

My friend and I have just returned from the Four Points, Miami. tired from a week long cruise. We arrived exhausted very early in the morning at the hotel. A most friendly welcome met us, we were immediately given a gorgeous room (1008 !) and the bellhop had our cases there within minutes. The bedroom was superb, spotless, large with two huge beds and a very fresh feel. We slept like logs that night. Lovely bathroom with toiletries provided and large wardrobe with safe. Coffee making equipment. We enjoyed a lovely buffet breakfast with the friendliest waitress I have ever met. Reception staff were most helpful and gave us local information on where to spend our day in Miami. We went to Jungle/Parrot Island which we thoroughly enjoyed. Do NOT believe one word of critical reviews, I wonder what high standard of excellence these people enjoy in their own homes. The Four Points is wonderful - lovely lobby, lovely pool, right on the boardwalk. (a bit far from shops) Book and enjoy. Thank you Four Points from two Irish ladies.

“Horrible Service & Rooms”

Four Points by Sheraton Miami Beach

When myself and my boyfriend got to the hotel after a really long and uncomfortable flight, we werent greeted by a friendly receptionist, instead we got a grumpy guy in his twentys who barely spoke to us and threw our room card at us, then when we got to the room we were disgusted to see that we were looking out onto a huge vent from the kitchen and there were cigarette butts all over the ground. I complained straight away and they moved us to a bay view room, so dont leave them give you room 512! Its hideous, just basically a horrible hotel , miami itself isnt a nice place at all, people are rude stuck up and just plain ignorant, i was glad to get outta there.

VERY VERY BAD ON CUSTOMER SERVICE, EXCEPT FOR A FRIENDLY YUGOSLAVIAN WAITER!!

Just returned form a stay at this hotel (23 to 30 August) and felt I had to answer some of the negative comments about this hotel.
Stayed here with my 15 yr old daughter and had a brillient time! The hotel is ideally located on the beach with a good pool area and a hot tub that worked all the time we were there. The staff were extremely friendly especially in the dining room and service in said dining room was extremenly prompt. Breakfast was the best meal as lunch and dinner were somewhat limited in choices, but who wants to dine in the hotel when you have the whole of Miami to explore! The pool staff were great - always towels available and when staff went off duty a stack of towels was always left along with a bin to put the wet ones in. Yes, the room decor of our sea view balconied room (we did not ask for this and were very pleased with it!) needed a lick of paint and the carpet needed a bit of a scrub in places, but the beds were comfy and linen changed daily. There are only two lifts for guests but we never had to wait that long! We were surprised with a bottle of white wine on our first night compliments of the management which was a great touch! We were not bothered with construction noise even though this was going on all around the hotel, perhaps others have more sensitive ears than ours! All in all I could not fault the hotel especially its location on the beach. My only downsides were the fact that the hotelt is a taxi ride or bus ride away from the shops and restaurants and there is nothing next to the hotel and the other thing that we did that was not good value for money ,was the bus and boat tour recommended by the concierge. The boat tour from bayside was excellent but the bus tour was badly put together, it didn't run to schedule and the tour guide was spanish speaking and his english was extremely poor. We definately wated the money on the bus tour but I would recommend the boat one.
