“Great spot for a fun time in South Beach”

Recently stayed here and was very please with the hotel. The location is pretty good down between 1st and 2nd Street on Ocean drive. Some very nice restaurants right around the hotel and Nikki's Beach Club is a block away (which we had a great time at on Sunday night). The main strips of restaurants and stores are very close starting at 5th Street. The hotel has a very nice but small pool area. But we spent our time at the beach. The beach is right there, has nice sand, chair and towel service as well as drinks and food service. It was very nice. The rooms are also nice. Not huge but I had a nice room with a balcony from which I had a nice view of the ocean and the port where all the cruise ships leave from. Everything was pretty clean. Restaurant has a good breakfast but a little pricey.
All in all it was very nice and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Get something a little higher with a view of the ocean and the port.

My 14 year old daughter and I just spent 8 nights at this hotel and it was nearly a perfect experience. The location can't be beat - right on the ocean, and a few blocks from everything that South Beach has to offer. The oceanfront room was beautifully appointed. The beds were amazingly comfortable. The food at the onsite restaurant was great though pricey, but one expects that from a hotel restaurant. I only have two minor complaints. First, we had an oceanfront room on the 6th floor which is really only 3 floors up from the pool/restaurant area. From 7am until the evening loud, jazzy, rhythmic music was played in that area and it filtered right up to our room. It woke me up one morning and after I called downstairs to let them know, they turned it down, but I could still hear it. I understand it's South Beach and the hotel feels a need to create a certain "vibe" but this was the one thing that really hampered my vacation. To look out at the gorgeous view from my oceanfront room and have to hear heart-pounding music all day long was distracting, to say the least. The other complaint was the ladies room at the pool. Seriously? This is a beautiful hotel, but the ladies' room there was disgusting. One time I went in and none of the 3 toilets were working properly. I found this to be uncalled for. The girl at the pool was working herself to the bone and she shouldn't have to deal with that too. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful and courteous. I gave the hotel 5 stars because even though I had complaints, they are minor. Overall, we had an awesome time and would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want oceanfront, ask for one on a high floor so you don't have to hear the music from the...

The hotel has many strengths: a great location – tucked away outside the noisiest sections of SOBE, a cool, contemporary style (generally a stretch for Marriott) , killer views, a cozy pool and a handful of wonderful employees. Two employees struck as particularly special: Katherine the pool attendant and Seth, the concierge. Katherine rules the pool scene with efficiency and service. Seth nailed several recommendations for us at restaurants that were unique and wonderful. Without these two people, frankly, we wouldn't have really connected with the place. I spend about 30 days a year in Marriott hotels, and have felt far more welcomed and cared for in less swanky properties.

Several things stand in the way of this being a great hotel. One is the food, which was totally unremarkable. The concierge lounge is overwhelmed, with lackluster staff. On occasion, we abandoned the bar, because the one-man bartender couldn’t keep up with demand. Elevators run like molasses, making going up and down a hassle. For a smallish hotel, the place lacked a certain service culture and vibe you find in boutique hotels.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful with a stunning view from the rooms with an ocean view. Also, Seth Frank helped me out tremendously with finding a place to eat and also fun activities! Request him for help with outside activities and restaurants.

Great rooms, views and service.
If you have a choice request a room on the upper floors (4 and above) those have been renovated and are the best rooms available and I'm quiet sure they don't cost more, it's a matter or luck and timing.
But! Just like all the major hotels you get in Miami and around the world everything after your bed costs an arm an a leg.
$20 service fees
$$ taxes on top they don't tell you about after check in??
And room service or drinking the bottle of water on the table.. Don't bother!!
It's disappointing when you stay at much cheaper places you get breakfast or free wifi at the marriott you get stung with extra costs.

Also Americans when will you pay your employees enough so that the tourist isnt trapped tipping!!!!

From the moment we stepped out of the taxi, we received special treatment. We never even had to open a door! Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a beautiful ocean view. Easy mobile check in and check out in room was convenient. Beautiful pool areas, clean beach and cushioned chairs. Walking distance to lots of restaurants. Would stay here again and again! We stayed before taking a cruise. Thanks !

Stayed at this property for the first time prior to heading out on a cruise in Miami. Check-in was very fast (I used the mobile app) and they had everything all ready to go. During elevators were noticeably slow and we waited forever for one each time we went to use it. The property was very clean and nicely decorated. The room was very clean and the bed was VERY comfortable. I normally like bigger rooms, but this was still very nice and cozy. The only downside was the slow service in the bar area. It was not busy at all (maybe 8 customers) and the staff seemed to be more busy chatting with each other than paying attention to customers at times. On the flip-side, when we did get their attention, it was excellent service. I would really recommend this property if you are wanting to check out South Beach. It is the perfect location and located right on the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean side balcony. And tell 'em Brian Jones sent ya :)
