“Best Hotel I have stayed at in South Beach”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

Overall very nice- much better rooms than most comparably priced hotels I have stayed at such as Raleigh, National, The Shore club etc. Staff very pleasant. They do offer promotions such as last minute booking- if you get those rates it is a great deal. Otherwise, it is typical south beach prices. For 250-300 it is a very good deal. 400-500 I would like at the Ritz and maybe some other places as not sure it is worth that. I agree with previous reviewer, consider parking in big garage across from Loewe's for $16 a day instead of the $37 the hotel charges. The resort fee of $20 or so they charge is a bit gimmickee- many south beach hotels are starting to do it- you will tend to eat at their restaurant to use the ten dollars in food but their prices are much higher than it should be and food quality is average. Pool area is okay- there are nicer hotel pools in the area. Hotel seemed to be a bit family/kid oriented which was fine- didn't have to deal with the typical south beach crowd like the Shore Club caters to, the clientele was very upscale and pleasant type of people. I tend to like the southern end of south beach- around 8th to 10th street etc- more stuff on ocean drive down there, but this hotel is nicer than ones down their for the price, so you have to pick one or the other. It is about a 15- 20 minute walk down their even if you walk at a good pace. Overall very nice place in an area that is difficult to find a decent hotel at a decent price.

Perfectly located on the northern part of South beach this hotel ticks most boxes.
I must begin with saying that all of the staff we encountered was extremely helpful and welcoming. The doormen at this hotel are really the best!! Thank you!
Unfortunately we had a dirty bathroom and cigarette smoke in our room two nights in a row which made the stay not as perfect as it could have been. That said, the management took it very seriously and Joleen, the housekeeping manager, was very service minded and made us feel appreciated. Good job Joleen!
We really enjoyed the beach loungers (free of charge), pool, restaurant, bar and wine and cheese in the evenings!
A car is not needed on South Beach but if you do have one, as we did, I would recommend parking the car at the City Parking on 16th street. It is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, but at 16 $ for 24 hours it is a bargain. Be aware that if you need in and out service the valet will probably suit you the best.
Regarding the issues we had the hotel made things right and we will most definitely be back some day.

A perfect size hotel right in the midst of South Beach. For sun, go to the beach and its comfy beach loungers and umbrellas with delicious food and libations served chair side. For book reading in the shade go to the pool with more loungers and a fitness room at pool level. The outdoors snack bar and regular bar is at the rear of the property by the beach gate across from a play area. For shopping go 1 1/2 blocks south to Lincoln Road. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful and the in-house restaurant and bar at lobby level offers comfy outdoor tables or inside sofas, banquettes, picnic tables and chairs. The food is good! The decorating very hip European modernist and the rooms are quiet with upscale accoutrements. Our family liked it very much for our Christmas week together - small, well-organized and welcoming. We'll be back!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Surfcomber and absolutely LOVED IT!
The staff at the Front Desk is extremely nice.
Big shout out to Clayton, the front desk manager. He was really nice and gave us champagne when we checked in.
Our stay was so relaxing and they have a free wine hour EVERY NIGHT!
We will certainly be back next winter. 

I really like the Kimpton vibe, always great service and properties - the Surfcomber did not not disappoint. The property really excelled in location and amenities.

I really enjoyed the private beach access, the DJ at the pool and especially the 5pm Wine social in the lobby. The staff where always available for questions and recommendations. The hotel even offered a bike tour around South Beach - too bad it was so early in the AM - very hard for South Beach!

The whole point of my stay was relaxation - after weeks on the road for work, I really wanted a nice place to spend time by the pool and by the beach, the Surfcomber offered me both in spades -

In typical Kimpton fashion, the rooms were a bit small, but the room is not the reason to go to South Beach, so I did not mind, plus, everything was well appointed and comfortable.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking to enjoy the more obvious South Beach highlights - surf, sand and good vibes!

Room Tip: I was in a courtyard room, which was nice and convienient to the pool - however it did get to be a b...

Everything is perfect in this hotel! The location, the private beach, close to very good restaurants and bar (Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road).
The staff is very helpful, the food is very good!
I recommend this hotel! If you can, take the room with the balcony and the sea view! It was our room and it was perfect!

Decor of hotel and room were really nice. Although the building is older everything is renovated. Good bed, sheets etc. staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Really went the extra mile for us several times. Starting with and upgrade due to a special occasion. Not advertised but nice is the free wine tasting every day. coffee in the lobby in the morning and is good coffee. If you call down they will bring the coffee up no charge because ghere is no coffee maker in the room. the resort fee isn't as bad as it seems as you get part back credit towards food and drink in the hotel, but rather have an all in price too much to think about. beach beds are included as well but umbrella not....(thats silly and feels cheap). Breakfast on the Terrace was excellent! Thank you for a great stay.

Room Tip: Ocean view is beautiful but can be noisy in weekend. We were there mid week no problem
