The Surfcomber is not the biggest or tallest hotel on South Beach, but it must be one of the best. And not just because the location is just perfect, but the atmosphere is just....warm.
We stayed there for a week in May 2013, and this was our first visit to the hotel. The reason we booked here was that we walked by while staying at a different hotel, and figured we'd have a look inside. We were met by Luz at the front desk, and she was explaning about the hotel and asked us if we wanted to have a look at one of their rooms in case we wanted to stay there. So we did, and next day we came by to book it for a week.
All the staff we met during our stay were equally friendly as Luz. We stayed by the pool quite a bit, and the guys at the pool (thanks Jonathan and Chris) were always great to us. I liked the fact that they also had icecold water with fruits available for the guests by the pool. The pool area itself is very nice - only downside was at times pretty loud music coming from the SLS next door. But that's not the Surfcomber's fault.
Our room was tidy and clean - not the biggest hotel room, but everything you needed. Bed was comfy!
Every evening the do a wine-tasting at the hotel, and that was good fun. Chris (think he's the hotel manager) was around chatting, serving wine and just being really friendly. We truly felt that he enjoyed making the guests feel really welcome and appreciated!
They also arranged various other activities like yoga on the beach, art deco walks and more...
All the practical things with check-in and check-out was swift and easy. The doormen were equally friendly as the rest of the staff we met - a big thanks to Brian for being so nice to us when we checked out.
I only had breakfast at the restaurant a couple of times, and that was fine.
If there was anything to ask for in regards of improvement, I'd say that it would be great to see the gym expanded a little. Perhaps an excercise ball or two. Or even a larger room dedicated to the gym....
All in all I think that the good people that work at the Surfcomber do a fantastic job to make guests feel very welcome and wish to return. I know I'll be back to this hotel.

Wow - what a terrific review! Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed experience. Chris will be happy to hear about the promotion you gave him to hotel manager, and the rest of the team you mentioned will be bragging to their colleagues about the great name drops! We are very fortunate to have a great team who enjoys taking care of our guests as much as they enjoy staying here.
We really look foward to welcoming you back soon!
