At first, we were disappointed by the tiny room size, kind of shabby room carpet, and the miserable trickle of a hot shower. But then we were won over by the positives: great location near fabulous restaurants, bars, and shopping; nice pool; excellent beach. The service at the pool and beach was great--the staff gets you seat covers, towels, free sunscreen, and sets you up where you want to sit. They rove around to take food and drink orders at your whim. A note about the room size: when we asked at the front desk if we could get a bigger room, we were informed that since it's an Art Deco hotel, they weren't allowed to blow out any walls when they redid it, so the rooms (other than suites) are all the same small size. Interesting. Another positive: the concierge gave us a fantastic rec for a Cuban restaurant nearby to save us a trip (sitting in traffic forever) to Little Havana: Bella Cuba. Be prepared to spend an extra $20/day for the resort fee--we were a little surprised by that, but thought it was worth it for the beach service.
