“South Beach at its finest.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

This place has everything. The things you will notice are the amazing pool, easy access to the beach and other things in South Beach. The rooms are in very good shape and the service is amazing. I don't know about the price because my friend stayed here but I saw everything that this hotel has to offer. I definitely recommend this place!!!

I would have given this hotel a five star if it wasn't for a huge disappointment we just had. But I did learn something: "I will always call a hotel ahead of booking a reservation to see if there are any special events that may impact our stay". I picked this hotel for it access to the beach and its pool. Upon checking in with our daughter (19 yrs) we were told that the pool area and access through that area to the beach would be closed to anyone under 21 years old for a 3 day music party (11am to 11 pm). We had to walk around the block to the beach and when we asked we were told that we could use another hotels pool down the block (huh - I wonder how that would look walking down the street in my robe - Ha - not pretty)!

Room Tip: Always call a hotel before you book it to see if there are any activities planned that may impact yo...

We were here for a 2 night stay in January prior to a cruise. Picked this hotel based on reviews and location. Room was fairly small, but nice and the staff at check in were incredibly pleasant. Good location for south beach amenities - loads of places to eat in the surrounding area. Pool area was nice and enjoyed the "wine hour" which actually also offered lovely cider which we both enjoyed. Was quite expensive to stay here but seemed to be standard for south beach to be honest. Would most likely stay here again should we go back to miami

Visited S Beach, March 14-17, during ultra music festival weekend. We were unaware at the time that the hotel would be hosting pool parties bc of this event and Winter Music Conference. However, both events did not distract us from enjoying ourselves.
The hotel is in prime location, about 2 blocks from Lincoln Rd and sits between Ocean Dr and Collins Avenue, allowing shopping, restaurants, nightlife all within walking distance. Staff was extremely helpful and attentive. Rooms were very clean and quiet.
My only major complaints were: the pool was unable to be used for relaxation due to the high energy electronic pool parties. Had this been publicized on the Kimpton main website that we booked through instead of the surfcomberpoolparty.com. and surfcomber.com, We may have decided to opt for a different hotel. I enjoy Kimpton Hotels, so hopefully the brand can communicate events such as these on their main booking site in the future.

A suggestion for the hotel when they throw pool parties would be to allow non partying guest access to a section of the pool that is closed off from the main pool party just as many other S beach hotels do during this festival. I enjoy the music and have attended the festival for the last 6 years, but there are times when it is appreciated and much needed to have a relaxing area. It is nice to hear the music but sometimes fist-pumping isn't what every guest enjoys from 11am-11pm.

Overall, this is a great place to stay and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a 4 star SOBE experience. Kimpton is awesome for having wine tastings each evening, being pet friendly, and maintaining a chic comfortable boutique vibe.

Loved, loved, loved our stay at Surfcomber in South Beach! As Kimpton Inner Circle members, we were welcomed with a glass of prosecco and upgraded to a gorgeous suite overlooking the art deco architecture of the historic district. The location was great - boardwalk out the back and right in the thick of things - walkable to Lincoln Rd.. Espanola Way and the Wolfsonian museum. We were unexpectedly there during the Food and Wine Festival so got to see Ziggy Marley perform (from the other side of the fence!) on the beach right in back of the hotel. the outdoor pool was great - we were fortunate to have warm weather for Feb. - with a mosaic backed waterfall and a poolside bar. a complimentary wine hour is held by the pool each night. The cabana was a nice bennie for my husband who can't take the sun and we enjoyed a fruit platter and frozen drinks in the shade away from the poolside crowd. We had lunch at the outdoor restaurant out in front and enjoyed our Cuban sandwiches though it was very warm and I would have welcomed eating indoors if the restaurant had been open. Also stopped by the bar after dinner and enjoyed talking with the friendly staff there. All of the staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would definitely recommend!

Room Tip: Not sure what kept me awake one night but i suspect it was the ice machine clonking so might want to...

I loved my stay at this hotel. Though the rooms are a little on the smaller size (this is South Beach), they were very modern, clean, and comfortable. Where this hotel shines most is its service. The staff is extremely friendly and they go the extra mile to make you feel special. If you forget any toiletries - they have a list of complimentary items they will bring to your room.

Additionally, it's one of the ONLY hotels in South Beach to take in pets (thanks Kimpton) and they treat pets like they are a member of the family. The hotel has a large grassy area in the rear where dogs can run, play, and use the restroom. My only concern was there are no poopy pickup bag stations. That's a minor issue and could be addressed rather quickly.

If you join the Kimpton reward loyalty plan (it's free) they will give you free WiFi. It's definitely worth it. Beside you will fall in love with the Kimpton brand and like me you'll be seeking them out for every vacation you take.

Was overall pleased with out stay. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are small but its very clean, trendy, and nice. Hotel bar was good and the complimentary reception is always great with Kimpton!
The pool and beach area are great and we loved the location.
