“Great Location”

Cadet Hotel

May 7, 2008

We stayed at the Cadet Hotel for 4 nights in March 2008. We booked a King room on their website. We found the check in staff polite and helpful when we found the ironing board was missing from our room. The room was large and had a tv and bar fridge. The bathroom was small but clean. The air conditioner in the room was a little noisy but effective in cooling the room.
The room was not well insulated against sounds from the hallway or from neighbours - we could hear a couple arguing at 1.30am and the housekeepers talking into their walkie-talkies in the morning.
The location is fantastic - very close to both the beach and also the shopping and dining areas on Lincoln St Mall. The carpark on 17th St is very convenient however it doesn't allow multiple entries/exits for the $15 a day.
Comparing the prices for other Miami hotels, the location is hard to beat (quiet location) however cross your fingers for quiet neighbours!

The hotel was recommended by a friend who lives in Miami. It was outstanding. Their inside patio is very cozy and perfect for breakfast or an afternoon beer.
The service staff was very nice and attentive. The continental breakfast was good and affordable - $7.
They also gave us beach towels so there was no need to bring our own.
Only a block away from Lincoln Road and very close to the beach and all happenning spots.
This hotel will be where we'll stay when going to Miami from now on for sure.

On the plus side, the hotel is only a couple of blocks from the beach. On the negative side, you don't get to use the beach umbrellas/chairs that belong to the beach-side hotels.

The rooms are very clean and modern. But... be forewarned that this is a boutique hotel, so the rooms are small, and there is no parking. If you don't ask for a specific type of room, you may end up in a small room with a queen bed with two people, which is what happened to us. There is, however, a nice covered terrace on the side of the hotel.

The staff didn't really seem to care about making our stay nice beyond just giving us the room. They made no effort to try to find us a bigger room. We had a car, which they told us we could park behind the hotel for $20/day for the 4 nights we were there. The next day, they told us that there was construction going on behind the building and we could no longer park there.

The other thing I found strange is that the staff came into our room several times a day, not just to clean once. They'd change towels as soon as we touched them. They also drew the blinds in our room in the evening. I am a private person and I really don't want a repeated visit to my room from the hotel service. I also wish that they had an environmentally friendly policy of changing towels upon request only. I know that the intent was to be helpful, but it was just too much.

I was very pleased with my stay at the Cadet Hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is great! It's located in the heart of South Beach in the Art Deco District . It's a block away from the 17th St. Beach, which is gorgeous! The room was very clean and comfortable with a large walk-in closet, extra bedding, and lots of fluffy white pillows. The Hotel staff turned the sheets over, cleaned, and brought chocolates to the room daily. It was a very pleasant stay. I also enjoyed the nice patio on the side of the Hotel.

“Great little hotel in a good location”

After reading all the reviews on tripadvisor, we decided to try out the Cadet for one night and were not disappointed. Good rates, very nicely decorated, GREAT bed and linens and a good location.
We did not try the continental breakfast...chose to get something from Burger King a block away and walk to the beach by the Ritz.
Lincoln Rd. is a few blocks away for all your shopping and dining.
NOTE, stay away from Pasha's Mediterrranean.
Nice little botanical garden across the street from the convention center which is free.
Parking next to the convention center, 3 blocks from the Cadet is $15/day, but you cannot leave once you enter. Taxis and buses are readily available if you want to go further down South Beach.
