“Boutique hotel under construction in great location with so-so rates”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2012

I stayed here in March 2012 and we booked it online directly with the hotel. It was more than I expected as far as the room went, but from the outside, you might not think much of the hotel.

The outside decor is crusting off and it's not very attractive from the outside. The elevator looks small and when it's not working, there's a limit of 1 person (normal capacity of 2 people). The second floor has 8 rooms and I imagine the 1st and 2nd floor has about the same general floor plan. The front door opens automatically which is great when you are dragging furniture.

We stayed in room 206 and it was more of a little studio apartment (more than I expected)! We had 2 queen sized beds that were so comfortable, a sofa, a TV and ipod station on a pivoting carousel with a fold down desk in the back. The bathroom was OK, but it looked like it was built for someone who was 4'11". The kitchen was nice, new fridge, new stove, nice counter, small microwave, but the ceiling over the counter was too low...my forehead walked into it twice.

There were 2 closets (one was smallish and one was a walk-in). The a/c worked well and our windows faced south into an empty lot where a Walgreens will be built soon (and that would have saved us a walk-being equidistant to the ones on 4th and Lincoln).

The breakfast was mediocre and could be classified as a carb-dieters nightmare. It was absolutely worth going somewhere to buy breakfast or getting groceries to make your own breakfast in your kitchen. Mini-bagels, toast, muffins, and mini-croissants, but they also has yogurt, warm OJ, water, coffee and the best part-tea!

The front desk service was OK and I didn't go down into the lower level until my day of departure where they really do have a decent gym, computers for public use, a private movie viewing room, and restrooms. They have parking available for $18/day (and that would be my worst complaint)-they put daily parking on our bill when we didn't even use it so make sure you look at your bill when you check-out.

The Nassau Suite Hotel is located at a great location. It's central enough to all the clubs and restaurants, but not too close where you can't sleep at night. Once they build the Walgreens next doors, I don't know how easy it will be to sleep at night. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay here.

Hi, thanks for your time in writing this review. The hotel is not under renovation. We just repainted the front facade and we changed the sign. The elevator engine has been changed so that is not a problem anymore. It is still small as this is a boutique hotel with only 22 suites. Please remember this is a historic building.
Continental breakfast is serve daily and it is included in the rate . Which most of the hotels in the area don't do. Our breakfast is quite complete with bakery (bread, muffins, croissants, cookies) , fruit (bananas and apples), yoghurt, tea, coffee, juice. You can always choose to have breakfast at a restaurant outside or use the fully equipped kitchen in your suite. Pleased to hear you enjoyed our location and that you saw our amenities. Hope to see you back soon.

It is a pity that a good hotel has such a rude front desk lady. she is very unprofessional hiding behind her hair, answering questions without politeness. It is sad to say that during my stay I tried to avoid asking questions in the morning while she was working and wait for a somewhat better treatment as a customer even though I would see her laughing with other guests so I don't understand her lack of consistency and what is her criteria to decide when to be kind or at least professional. I never write reviews but I felt discriminated against.

Room Tip: horrible front desk

Just got back from 3 night stay in Miami, hotel is old dirty and the front desk staff are unhelpful and ignorant. The hotel is expensive but your paying for the location which is the best thing about this hotel right in the centre of south beach. Stay somewhere much cheaper cause you won't b in the hotel much!!!

Run away from this hotel. The hotel is under construction. Caution tape around the hotel. Rooms faced the alley. Toiletries had expiration dates from months in 2011. Breakfast was coffee, juice and bread. Drunk men standing in the porch of the hotel. You can hear everything on the floor above you and the front desk assistant that worked the evening shift was very unfriendly. Just plain bad. Run away fast.

The good news--Quiet, great bed (locally manufactured mattress from a hotel supplier), great pillows and led linens, well-equipped kitchen (housekeeping supplied us with a toaster), big closets including a fine walk-in, good Internet connection (dedicated in-room modem), on-premises parking, pleasant staff, good handyman, plenty of electrical outlets, huge-screen television, great location.

The bad news--Barstool chairs and tiny spindletop table (despite room enough for a proper table and chairs), on-again-off-again hot water in dressing area and kitchen (plenty in the shower), dressing area sink that looks great but splashes a lot, "Deco" elevator (only could carry one passenger at a time, and did a great jitterbug when stopping and aligning with the floor), mediocre "continental" breakfast, sealed windows so that cooking odors remained for days, clock-radio that was impossible to set (I always bring my own alarm clock, but still).

Room Tip: In the back, towards Washington. On Collins, noisy. Book early.

We had a confirmed web reservation at this hotel. The morning of our trip I called to confirm our late arrival, only to be told we were not booked in until the following night. The hotel was fully booked, so they offered reluctantly to find us a comparable room at a nearby hotel. Upon our arrival we were met by a rude young man who directed us to a hotel up the street. No apologies, nothing. The alternate hotel was horrific, the hall rug was so filthy that I was hard to determine the orignal color. The tub had the finish peeling off, the floors were do dirty we never took our shoes off. It was not a suite, as we had been assured by Nassau Suites. We checked out quickly the next morning and went to the Nassau. We were greeted by the same young man who rudely asked why we were there as he knew the other hotel had told us the room was not ready. We asked to have our bags held so we could go on with our day and were told to leave them out in the lobby. At check in we had another surprise. We had requested a suite with two queen size beds, only to be told that was not correct despite my daughter showing the infamous clerk her online booking ( which also clearly showed us as confirmed for the night before). He told us that the booking was wrong and a suite with a ing was all they had. Again no apology for being bounced the night before or for the horrible replacement room. A bit later we were offered a room with two beds, but when I asked to see the room or at least know where it was, I was told the rooms were still dirty ( at nearly 4 pm) and he could not tell me where it might be. His attitude was again beyond rude. Fed up,we kept the bed with one room offered. There was never an apology, offer to comp us for the lousy booking or incredible rudeness. A few bright spots, the room was reasonably clean and away from the street. However, after the experience my daughter and I had getting into our room, I would really hesitate to ever book here again.

Room Tip: Avoid the first floor and rooms facing the street, the hotel is having exterior work done and there...

Perfect location in "south beach" - walking distance from everything worth seeing, beaches, restaurants, shopping etc. Older type building that has been renovated - rooms are very large, nice bathrooms and clean. A kitchen is included that can be very convenient if you want to make some small snacks or meals. Noise between rooms can be an issue if you are next to a loud "neighbor". Nice workout room and business center in the basement which has been fixed up, painted etc. Parking is limited & tight (only 12 - 15 cars max.). Continental breakfast is very limited and everyone squeezes in at one table or you can sit outside which is nice. The woman who works the day shift is very nice & helpful, but the evening guy is not very friendly and appears to there as a security guard only. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would probably come back, but there are a lot of nice options in the surrounding area. I think the Nassau is reasonably "priced" compared to other hotels in the area which will cost you more $$$,,,,,

Room Tip: The rooms on the 2nd floor are probably quieter, but the elevator is small and can only hold two per...
