“Clean & comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We stayed at the Park Central Hotel for 6 nights in June and were overall very happy with our stay! The hotel was in a fantastic location, right on Ocean Drive and everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. The only complaint I have about the location is that if you walk along the hotel side of the street outside you have restaurant hosts jumping out at you with menus every two minutes so it's hard to enjoy the buzz. But we avoided this by walking on the opposite side of the road so it's not a huge complaint.

When we were checking in we were offered an upgrade to a 6th floor ocean view room for $40 more per night but because we were on a budget we didn't take it. Our room was a classic double room on the second floor and was clean, comfortable and spacious. The hotel itself is an original Art Deco building which was really cool! We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here June 13-17 2013. The Hotel is older as the other hotels on Ocean Dr. so we were happy. Everything is very close- walking distance. There was 2 bell boys that were very helpful and informative, Rafael and an older man not sure of his name. I give this service and Hotel a 4 Star. Enjoy!

Stopped to grab lunch with a group of friends and we just had a blast. Food wss great very eye appealing and the chicken wings tasted really good as well as being reasonably priced. The Sex on the Beach drinks are ok. But the view and location outdoors is just a great place to dine and relax while people watching.

The location can't be better, right across the street from the beautiful South Beach, and the Art Deco building is pretty. Everything inside is vintage Art Deco--elevator, rooms, bathroom, furniture, ceiling fans, all the fixtures--and it's amazing that they are all well maintained in working order. It's not like a modern, brand-new, spacious hotel, but everything works and our stay was very comfortable.

Truly a step back in time. A quaint and wonderful experience. The staff was very attentive. I cant say enough nice things about them and miss them already. The location was awesome, right across from Lummus Park and beautiful Miami beach. They supply towels and beach chairs making a day at the beach so easy and fun. Also, the food at Quinn's was phenomenal!

Room Tip: Do not book anything other than a partial ocean view or full ocean view, preferably a corner suite...

Stayed at Park Central for 4 nights in May. Hotel has a fantastic location on South Beach, situated right across from the beach and with cafes, bars and restaurants along Oceans Drive and Collins (just one block behind). Reception area is great, as was pool area with loungers and rooftop terrace to enjoy the view. You also get the use of two loungers per room on the beach (just give the attendant your hotel details) and the hotel provides beach towels for use - a great extra that allowed us to enjoy the atmosphere of the beach.
Room was decorated in art deco style, bed linen and towels were spotless and the in-room safe meant everything could be safely locked away.
Staff were very helpful, Rudy on reception in particular, who made us feel very welcome. We were lucky enough to get a room upgrade to superior room with partial seaview (thanks Rudy) and I'd definitely recommend the upgrade if you can.
Whilst we didn't eat in the hotel restaurant Quinns, it was very popular and the food looked great. We did eat the Park Central café next door and would recommend, whether you're looking breakfast or evening meal. And the cocktails at both the café and the hotel were fantastic.

We happened to visit South Beach over Memorial weekend which, not know to us when we booked, was the Urban hip-hop beach weekend. Whilst there has been a lot of trouble in previous years (just read the Miami forum!) I have to say that, as two girls on our own, we felt very safe with all of the police and security around and never felt threatened. Granted we were careful and took fairly standard precautions like not walking down back streets at night but we were completely comfortable both in the hotel and out and about at night.
Would definitely recommend and we will be staying here again on our next visit.

Room Tip: Go for the upgrade room with partial sea view if you can

We made the decision not to book our usual chain hotel (clean, modern etc) for a taste of proper Art Deco history. Bad move. We arrived to a lovely exterior which was what we expected. Reception area and open bar looked good too so we were relieved at check in. However our room was awful. The sheets and towels were clean. That is the most positive thing I can say. The paintwork was shabby, the carpet dirty (the previous occupants grape stems were still on the floor) and wet where the aircon unit dripped onto it. It was also stained. The bathroom was a shambles, chipped and rusty bath, floor marked. The daily maid service was only average. We made the mistake of trying not to spoil each others holiday by not complaining which was, in hindsight, another mistake. We left it until checkout when Keysha on reception was apologetic and promised the general Manager would be informed and would be in touch with us. Still waiting for that. She set up complimentary cocktails for us in their cafe/bar but when we tried to claim them the server refused to acknowledge them resulting in an embarrassing trip back to reception. However the Quinn Restaurant in the hotel was superb. The food was divine and we would visit the restaurant again. Also the barman Isaac was entertaining and professional and made a mean Mojito. Even so we would not stay here again even if they gave us the room for free.

Room Tip: Do not stay here.
