“Hotel Does Not Honor Reservations”

Marlin Hotel

Dec 9, 2006

This hotel does NOT honor reservations. They do not honor pre-payments or deposits. Feel free to try to go but just have a good backup plan in place because we are not the first guests to be turned away after pre-paying for our stay. They are dishonest and not to be trusted. On top of everything else - it's not even a nice hotel. Very euro-trash. There are much better options on the beach in South Beach. STAY AWAY!

We made a reservation and paid them over a month ago for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were informed that our room had been "red flagged" and that they couldnt allow anyone to stay in it. They put us up in a 2 star hotel down the road and our room was about 200 s.f.. We called our booking company to complain. After the Marlin hung up on them once they were informed that it was a booking problem. We went back to the Marlin to complain but they refused to give us the managers name. They said the managers name was "confidential information"!!! Don't be fooled by the pictures on the internet...If the lobby of the Marlin is any indication of what the rooms look like then this place is a dump!

A friend and I recently stayed at the Marlin for a long weekend and found our stay to be delightful. This being our first trip to South Beach from Connecticut and we were expecting an uptight stuffy atmosphere from this boutique hotel, but this was not the case at all. From the moment we arrived we found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. When we entered our room we were surprised at how spacious the room was and how clean it was. The housekeepers did an amazing job of maintaining our room during the stay as well as keeping our towels and mini bar stocked. When we asked for restaurant and shopping suggestions the front desk was eager to provide us with a list of options as well as several guides to Miami Beach. One evening during our stay we opted to have drinks at the hotel bar. The bar was busy but not overcrowded; it provided us with the laid back vibe we were looking for. I would suggest the Marlin to anyone who is visiting Miami Beach. The hotel may not feature a pool or spa but it is steps from the beach, and the welcoming staff and relaxed atmosphere will definitely keep us coming back.

“loved my room”

Marlin Hotel

i stayed at the marlin two weeks ago, in a two bedroom suite (i booked a smaller suite but got upgraded). it was very large, two beds, two full bathrooms, and a kitchen in between. almost like an aprtment. very cozy. view was of the city, not the ocean, but i was told that there is only 2 of these large suites and neither face the ocean. i come to miami beach for business and the front desk people were good, they booked me a rental car and changed my flight home for me. also free wireless internet in my room and on the outside patio. i'm going back in December for the art show, will stay here again. very low-key, not at all stuffy.

i just got back from miami and stayed at the Marlin...had a great time. staff there is excellent, very helpful and attentive. i checked in early, about 9am, and they got the room ready for me. room was big, plenty of room for me and my girlfriend's stuff. we loved the bar, they have a great lobby bar with parties a few nights a week. we were in the honeymoon suite, which was a round bed with a mirror on the ceiling and a great old fashioned tub - very romantic.

one of the days we were there the room vibrated a bit, and we asked why. there's a recording studio in the hotel and they were recording, but the clerk said only the honeymoon suite gets the vibrations. it was during the day, so it wasn't a big deal.... we spoke to some other people staying at the hotel one night at the bar and no one else's room vibrated. they offered us a bottle of champagne, which we accepted. overall, loved the marlin, love the nightlife, can't wait to go back.
