“Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2014

I stayed here about a month ago for an anniversary weekend with my lovely girlfriend and I must say it was beyond a great experience. Although I'm a Miami local and live about 25 minutes away from the hotel, it was nice to "get away" and be within walking distance to the beach. The staff was beyond courteous, especially Romain. He did everything in his power to ensure that all of our expectations were being met and exceeded -- I highly recommend that he be given a raise, just saying. Upon checking in to the hotel, my girlfriend and I felt right at home. Also, there was a cancellation and we were automatically upgraded to a bigger suite (incredible plus). The room was very spacious and extremely clean. Lots of great places to eat near the hotel. Overall, an amazing experience for any local Miamian or out-of-towner. Highly recommend.

We are so happy you enjoyed your stay at the Impala! It is an even greater compliment coming from a Miami local himself. Romain sends his regards and we are all looking forward seeing you again in the soon future!

My husband and I stayed in the grand suite for 4 nights. It was clean, cozy, and felt very much like renting a European apartment. The Impala's short distance to the beach means that it's also centrally located to shopping (both brand names and individual artisans on the beach). The breakfast offered by the hotel provides a high quality bread basket and plain unsweetened yogurt with fruit for only $10. It was too much for us to finish.

The staff was more than happy to help us with reservations, information and advice for day excursions, and even provided sunscreen for us one day.

The bed was very comfortable and the suite provided a large couch that could have easily accommodated a small gathering, as well as a second-floor balcony that overlooks the street--ideal for people watching!

I would easily choose The Impala again over an impersonal, overpriced chain hotel. Part of the experience is where you stay, and you won't soon forget the Impala!

Room Tip: The Grand Suite is right on the street, so weekend revelries may keep extremely light sleepers up la...

This is why we love being so different from the big chain! And for us that means being able to assist you in any possible way we can to make your stay more enjoyable even if that means going out of our way.
Thank you so much for deciding to stay with the Impala and leaving us such a wonderful review, we hope you will choose us again next time you come to Miami!

I know the hotel has changed hands a few times since its high times 10 years or so ago, but ...
I was so disappointed in my visit this past weekend and unfortunately there was no management around to discuss this with.
Lets just say, I asked the concierge for a "nice" place to have a cup of coffee other than walking to Starbucks - was ... Wait for it "Walgreens". It used to be that you walked through the courtyard (now crazy with mosquitoes) into an orange scented quiet music filled space of "cool". Now, you walk in and it's flat. My room on the second floor looking out onto the coveted courtyard was sadly in disrepair. The doors that used to be glass are now solid core white and hence, cut off all light into the sitting area. The paint on most walls is scuffed and dented. The shower curtain rod droops. The towels had that crusty feeling that usually means they've been washed so many times and have lost that soft luxurious feeling. The shower water fixture(s) - though come with a small card as to how to use them ... Don't. When asked the concierge to have someone look into it - his response was "it works, read the card."
When asked of another concierge to get a taxi to a restaurant, he said that no one would take us as they only go the airport.
On a positive note, the sheets were nice. It just feels like no one is in charge anymore - and I suppose that now as most buildings are renovated and occupied by hotels - competition is tough. It must be difficult to keep your margins in hat environment. It's just sad that a once chic boutique secret and gem is now simply a holiday inn experience. No offense to holiday inn ...

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are very sorry to hear that your recent stay was not as pleasant as your first one. As much as our hotel has changed over the years, we always aim to provide a quality service to our guest but it seems that you did not have a good experience with our staff during your stay so we deeply apologize about that.
Please be aware that the employee in question is no longer working with us. In addition, we made sure that everyone working at the hotel has been made aware of your situation as to prevent it from happening in the future.
We are thankful you shared all those details with us regarding the appearance of the hotel and we will do our best to attend to them as much as we can. Indeed the hotel has changed hands over the years and it is difficult for us to keep that perfect image that you had on your first visit but we hope you will give us another opportunity to show you that our hotel is still unique and one of its kind.

I hate to write this review to share the secret of how spectacular this small gem of a hotel is. The decor of coral, wrought iron and mosaic is serene and beautiful. The staff is that of a small European hotel - attentive, charming and warm. Located a block off Ocean Drive, this hotel provides a quiet haven, in contrast to the bustle a block away.

And so are our guests, charming and warm! We are so happy you had a great time in our little retreat, we always strive to convey the quiet and elegant atmosphere that the busy Miami Beach seems to sometimes lack and we hope you will return and stay with us once more!

This was the most wonderful surprise in Miami - such a beautiful, clean, friendly atmosphere. Everything about the place was perfect; ideal location, friendly staff, and a beautiful room for a very reasonable price. Will definitely stay here again!!!

My wife and I stayed overnight at the Impala after attending a Cubs-Marlins game, which the Cubbies won by the way!
The hotel is lovely and the room we had was beautifully furnished, including a great walk-in shower.
The only disappointment is that the restaurant on the first floor was closed for renovation.
Actually that may have been a blessing in disguise, because the concierge recommended Havana 1957, which turned out to be a wonderful Cuban restaurant.

Thank you so much for your kind review! It is too bad that you could not experience our delicious restaurant Spiga but we always have plenty of good recommendations and tips to give you about the best places to eat in Miami!
We are also happy to let you know that the restaurant is now up and running. We hope you will have the time to stop by and enjoy their home made Italian food for your next stay with us!

Me and the wife stayed here one night on a Saturday in the Summer. We got lucky with a parking spot out front, otherwise parking is a nightmare (its the same all over the beach) - the valet they told us to expect was nowhere to be seen. Maybe we didn't know where to look haha.
Nice high thread count sheets, nice bed, nice bathroom. Smallish room but its an old art deco place so that's what you get. Friendly front desk, they upgraded us to a king bed without even asking, and had no problem with late check in and late check out. TV was hard to work but we only watched it for 15 minutes anyway. Good location for walking. Really hard to find at first, hidden between two other places and behind a restaurant. Really picturesque, nice marble and boutique appointments. Easy walk to Puerto Sagua (best cuban food ever and afforable!) and the beach. Went to Mango's for a night of cheesy salsa dancing and entertainment which was totally fun. Stop by Club Deuce for a quick drink before hitting anything else - it's an institution. My wife hated the Deuce but I have been drinking there since I was 16 (1980's!) so I wouldn't dream of missing it haha. I would have liked to stay longer but life requires more work.

Room Tip: No elevator if you need that sort of thing.

We are delighted you got to enjoy Miami and we hope it is still as much fun as your last time there! South Beach is often considered a little paradise but when it comes to parking, it turns out to be quite a challenge for anyone trying to find a spot. Fortunately, we do offer valet parking services. In order to be the quiet and secluded hotel we aim to be, we are hidden right behind the delicious Spiga restaurant and you will find our entrance by taking the little side alley through our patio area.
The valet parking is not right in front of the hotel unfortunately due to the busy traffic of Collins Avenue but it is right next door to us! Don’t hesitate to come in and ask us where to find it, we’re always happy to be of assistance. So many things to do in Miami and so little time… We hope you will stay with us again and have more time to enjoy all the great things Miami has to offer!
