“does not get worse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2009

Having read the reviews I expected a lot more, but was really disappointed.Service at check in was poor. Took forever to get room, and then did not get the room type I had booked and was charged for. Took a long time to get the room cleaned each day. Hotel seemed to be very "tired and old". Only redeeming feature is the location.

As a travel Agent, I visited the Alexander Suites in Miami last week and going back
there, that would be my choice. Beautifull resort, lobby, pool, beach, location and
all the Suites are outstanding. Very Clean, nice decor, spacious, etc...
Few minutes from the Art Deco District. Restaurant on the Site : Don Shulas.
We had an excellent lunch outside near the pool and beaches and very good service.
All the staff, bell boy, reception, Didi at the sales office was very kind and friendly .
I recommend the Alexander Suites Hotel for either groups, family or couples.
Once of the Best place to stay in Miami.

This is a great place to stay. Rooms are whole condos with kitchens and everything. We thought we were going to get a normal "one bedroom not so big suite." We ended up having a 900 square foot condo with a kitchen 2 bathrooms, large living/dinning room. It was not brand new but was nicely updated. It was less expensive then the nearby hotels with tiny rooms. This was great for my family. After staying we did not have the usual cramped feel you get after spending a week in a hotel room. The staff was friendly and got to know us by name. We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed at the Alexander for a wedding in October. We were able to see lots of rooms because of the amount of family we had. My boyfriend and I were only supposed to be in a one bedroom suite but because they did not have many rooms left we were upgraded to a 2 bedroom at no extra cost. Our room was nice, clean and very spacious. My brother had a 2 bedroom suite as well and their kitchen was really open and bright where our kitchen was in a corner away from the window. We also saw another person's suite that had a hallway totally mirrored, ceiling and everything, which was a little odd I thought but at least it wasn't the bedroom. And all rooms had balconies, a definite plus. The pool was great and there was a little bar that had some food. The beach area behind is pretty decent too. There was one rocky patch but you could easily swim past it and the water stayed shallow for a long ways out. Chair and umbrella rentals are a little steep in price but if you're gonna be out there for a long time it's worth it. Also, you're not close to the "South Beach" area of Miami beach but I prefer it. It's calmer and better for a relaxing time. The one problem was with room service. We ordered a bread basket and they only brought one of each thing when we were promised two. But we called and got another bread basket delivered at no additional charge.

From the moment you pull in the hotel's ramp until the moment you leave it, The Alexander pampers you in inimagiable ways. The staff offers a superb service. Everyone greeted us as if they were expecting us. The hotel has been decorated with beautiful antiques that gives it a classy and welcoming look. The rooms are spacious and luxurious. The view is magnificent! Imagine waking up looking at a fresh and renewed ocean every morning. Relaxing! The pools, the tiki bar, the cabanas, the restaurant... You should see it for yourselves. I recommend The Alexander hotel. They made our family's visit a memorable one.

We enjoyed almost every aspect of our stay at the Alexander! Conceirge and front desk very accomodating. Shula's restaurant service and food exceptional. Could not finish the 22 oz , (I think) "cowboy" rib eye (they said favorite of don shula but not many could finish that size steak!). Really high quality though. My wife and I enjoyed both the beach and lower pool area. Our neices played on the jungel gym set up on the back lawn. Other days we took umbrella and chairs on the beach. All in all the only thing that made me blink was the cost of valet service but it seem like that's high everywhere you go on Miami Beach. We learned to just keep the car at the hotel and travel by taxi. SOBE Ocean Drive about 10 minutes by cab and alot to do with the kids in town. We took a 2 bedroom suite which was plenty big and gave us a full kitchen so that we could enjoy breakfast on our own. I think we've found our home away from home!
