After two nights we left the Paradise in search of something more to our liking. Villa Paradiso lacked the amenities to which I've become accustomed. The rooms were fairly clean and the help was very nice, but it was not what I expected. The thing that finalized my decision to leave the hotel was a giant cockroach (pomento bug) in one of the utensil drawers. I unsuccessfully attempted to kill it by piercing its armour-like exterior with a fork, but when it scurried away I zipped my suitcase, slept the night uneasily and checked out the next morning. If you're looking for an inexpensive stay in South Beach at a hotel that you'll spend almost no time except sleeping (potentially in the presence of local wild life) then feel free to book Villa Paradiso. But if you're looking for something more luxurious I think you'll have to hit the Collins Top 10 (Lowes, Delano, The Shores, Royal Palms, South Seas, Sagamore, National, etc. We moved to South Seas and had a much more positive experience for the remainder of our stay. The additional USD$75 per night was well worth it.
