The Tides Hotel

Service was excellent. Everyone was so friendly and nice. The rooms were really nice. Everything well designed...just loved the place.

Even though my friends and I were late getting home one evening, they allowed us to stay outside on the patio and served us after they were supposed to be closed.

Eduardo was the man!

The only downside was that we stayed in a suite and there was no door on the bathroom

When we booked the Tides it was rate No 2 on Trip Advisor. By the time we arrived it had gone out of the top ten. Seems like the Tides got derided for the renovation and the service.

We never saw it before the renovation but most of the negative comments were about the over crowded & over the top lobby and bar area. It is crowded but this is art deco and the furniture represents the building well in my mind. There's room to sit and relax and it's interesting to look at.

As for the service. Either the staff have changed or they have all been through sime intense customer service training.

Everyone we met was wonderful. We were greeted every time we entered or left the hotel. The cleaners were courtious and chatty. The staff at the pool were great fetching cold water (free) or drinks at our request.

Thinking about it even the people who dealt with our booking and airport transfers before we arrived responded quickly and with any information we wanted.

But best of all was Jacqueline at reception. She made great recommendations for shopping, dining, hairdressers - anything we asked really. And was nice with it too !

Thankyou to all the staff - great stay at the Tides

Truly deserves to be rated in the top 3.

My wife and I spend two nights in Miami Beach after a wonderful trip to Turks and Caicos and had a wonderful stay at the Tides. We knew we wanted to stay in the Art Deco part of town rather than The Ritz or Loews... The Tides has the best location on Ocean Drive and the recent remodel is amazing. The bed was comfortable and room well appointed. The staff of the hotel was first rate from the moment our taxi arrived from the airport a great bellman rushed outside anticipating my arrival addressed me by last name without any introduction... While we were in town the weather was bad, but the staff was very helpful with dining recommendations and always at attention to help with any needs... Great hotel and amazing staff... There is no better place to stay in South Beach!!!

we had stayed previously and loved it then, but this time was even better. The Tides is a really elegant and classy hotel and the staff are so attentive, friendly, helpful and charming. After a long, delayed flight we eventually pulled up outside the hotel in our hire car and received such a welcome that, within minutes, we felt so much better. We were given a complimentary glass of wine, and whilst unpacking in our lovely room, a complimentary cheese and fruit plate was delivered.

The staff had emailed me prior to our stay to ask if we had any particular requirements and I asked them to arrange for some roses to be delivered to the room for my partner who was delighted with the huge red rose bouquet and card. The staff were extremely helpful with recommending restaurants, making table reservations for us, calling taxis etc. They make a point of remembering your names and their friendly greetings everytime you come and go are really nice.

Dinner in the hotel's restaurant was good and breakfast [which you can eat outside on the front patio or inside in the cool restaurant] was delicious, the omelets and citrus french toast are especially good.

They have a nice pool with sunbeds shaded by palm trees and parasols, with waiter service for drinks and snacks, and supply bottles of water to take to the beach, where they have free sunbeds, umbrellas and towels.

Of course, it's not cheap to stay at The Tides, but a tip for booking: keep an eye on their website for special deals where you can save 40%, but don;t forget to take into account all of the complimentary goodies such as fruit and soft drinks at the pool, Molton Brown toiletries which keep appearing, along with bottled water every day [ they even offered us bottles for our trip as we were leaving ], free sunbeds, umbrellas at the beach etc.

As you relax in the comfortable and elegant front patio of the Tides, you will notice numerous other tourists stopping to take photos of this hotel, but it is definitely the staff who made our stay so great.

The Tides is the hotel where other hotel staff should come to do their training !

“Perfect”

The Tides Hotel

We just came back from three days at the Tides. To tell the truth, I was half expecting the usual boutique hotel: funky design and rather lousy service. I was surprised to discover a true 5 star hotel, worthy of the best Four Seasons or Hyatts out there. I'm hard to please hotel-wise but the Tides couldn't be faulted. Attention to detail was perfect, service was excellent, hitting the perfect balance between professional and relaxed and succeeding in making you feel like you were the most important guest in the hotel (even though we had a standard room). Speaking of rooms, they are huge, with a wonderful view on the beach and the ocean. No - rooms at the back overlooking a parking lot like in most other hotels. For once, what you see on the website is what you get.
I was sorry to read about the one star experience below. I guess the reviewer might've fallen on the rotten apple there (there always one, wherever you go!). Apart from one waitress who wasn't as amazingly friendly as the others (meaning she was just a perfectly normal waitress, nothing wrong with her), everybody and everything was absolutely perfect.
And the decoration is indeed funky, but that didn't bother me. The rooms are actually much tamer than the lobby and restaurant, which you will either love or hate. I thought the design was quite interesting, if not perfect.
I cannot find anything I didn't like, no quibble whatsoever. Last time that happened was at the Hyatt Place Vendôme in Paris, which was 2,5 times the price of the Tides.
I look forward to staying there again. Oh, and location is absolutely stunning. I visited all the other 5 stars in the neighbourhood and this is definitely my favourite.
