My parents are Cuban. I was born and raised here. My favorite Cuban sandwich is the pan con bistec (steak sandwich). Tuto's Place makes the best pan con bistec I've ever had (I hope my mom doesn't read this review, LOL). The Cuban bread is soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The palomilla steak is tender, not overcooked, full of flavor, and juicy when you bite into it. It also has lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and the pièce de résistance, the fried shoestring potato sticks. Just absolutely delicious, and filling as well. I also enjoyed un batido de mamey (mamey milkshake) and it was amazing. If you don't know what a mamey is, here's a link that can help.....http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-mamey.htm. The sandwich is big, quite often I take half home for later. The sandwich only costs $5.50. The milkshake was $2.50, which is what most restaurants charge now for a soda! I've also seen other dishes and the servings are immense, and the price is not expensive at all for the caliber of food you are getting. The restaurant is very small and seems to be owned by one Cuban family and they all work there. If you're coming in from out of town and you wanna see a real casual "mom and pop" Cuban place with great food, this is the place to go to. If you live in Miami and just want a find a good pan con bistec, this is the place for you. It has been in this neighborhood for years and most of the people that go there are regulars, I plan on becoming a regular soon!
