This is a great hotel for the price and location. We stayed in a one bedroom suite on the 6th floor. Overall, the room was great. I was surprised that it came with a full kitchen including a dishwasher. The room looked newly decorated but could use a little update in the bathroom. The staff was great and very helpful. The onsite Thai restaurant was amazing. When you ask for hot, you get hot! The pool area was great because it included outdoor seating for the restaurant. If you get hungry you can slide up to a table and order whatever you wanted. They also did a great job with the landscaping to add a sense of seclusion to the pool area.
Overall, Coconut Grove is a great place to relax for a few days. They have some great restaurants near the hotel so we didn't need a car for the entire trip. We used the new Orange Line train from MIA and walked everywhere else. One word of caution if using the train. There are 2 stops for Coconut Grove (Coconut Grove and Douglas Road). DO NOT use the Douglas Road station. You will have to cross through a VERY rough neighborhood to get to the Grove. My fiance was heckled non stop by people on the street, there were drug dealers on the corners and prostitution in broad daylight (11am). After asking some local people and a very helpful police officer we were warned to never go through that area again and that we were lucky we made it without any issue. The Coconut Grove station was the opposite in a beautiful safe area with only a 1 mile walk or short bus ride to the main Grove area.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Few destinations can boast such a distinctive and colorful character as Coconut Grove. In the heart of this tropical paradise sits The Mutiny Hotel, a luxurious all-suite property neighboring the pristine waters of Biscayne Bay. A bright swatch of coral set against the intensely blue South Florida sky, the Mutiny's 12-story tower epitomizes the South Florida style; vibrant colors compliment chic accommodations elegantly decorated in a modern-lavish motif. Long a playground for the elite, The Grove - as it is known by locals - is also a second home to many celebrities, artists, and jetsetters. Its entertainment and shopping district reflects the quirky-yet-sophisticated nature of its residents, and visitors can find everything from haute couture to haughty kitsch in the many shops at CocoWalk, steps from The Mutiny's front door.
