“Super Hotel in Coconut Grove!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

We travelled to the Miami area during our daughters' school break. We reserved a two-bedroom suite and our room was exactly as depicted on the hotel's website. The spacious suite was in excellent condition and the beds in both bedrooms were very comfortable. The sofabed was not very comfortable but the housekeeping staff promptly provided a mattress topper that solved that issue. Our suite had plenty of storage space, a fully equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer. The entire suite had marble or tiled floors which avoids the problems associated with hotel carpets! Housekeeping staff kept our room very clean throughout our stay.

We were very pleased with the hotel's Coconut Grove location. The hotel is within walking distance of great restaurants, movie theatres and some shopping. There is a great grocery store nearby, too. Very inexpensive public transit is easily accessible from the hotel.

Our room was not high enough to have much of a view, however, it offered the peace and quiet we were seeking. The only noise we noticed, on occasion, was from other guests moving chairs on the marble floors in the room above ours.

The quiet pool area was relatively small but kept clean and was never crowded during our stay. The hot tub was usable its jets were not working while we were there.

Although we usually do not ask for much in the way of hotel services when we travel, we were very impressed with the helpful, friendly staff at The Mutiny Hotel. They helped us to arrange an excursion to the Everglades, provided directions to the nearest grocery store and promptly called taxis when we needed them.

I would certainly stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others looking for more than a standard hotel room in a secure and quiet area of the city.

Room Tip: Based on other reviews, it seemed that some rooms had been more recently renovated than others. We...

Stayed here last week to attend a family wedding. The pictures online are NOT accurate to the real life images of this hotel. The property is cleaned with the bare minimum and almost every surface is grimy. The WORST part is the abundance of bugs everywhere! There were spider mites, sand fleas and spiders all over everything and staff did not seem to care. The sofa and chairs all around the pool were infested with sand fleas and spider mites as were the balcony off the rooms. My husband was bit by something and we missed our family wedding to have to go to Mercy hospital to attend to my husbands massive infection and reaction to the bug. The hotel was NOT accommodating to our situation and reported they are not responsible for outdoor bug infestations! We are still requiring medical care for the infection we accrued at the hotel. The staff is mixed... some were nice and others had a serious attitude. The restaurant was overpriced and very inconsistent to say the least. However, servers at the restaurant were very hospitable. Bottom line, our family trip to see our family get married was ruined and my husband has a very serious illness due to the lack of cleanliness of this hotel. We will NEVER stay here again.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

On behalf of our entire staff we extend our sincere apologies for the conditions you encountered on your recent visit. On very rare occasions we have issues with bugs out by the pool, as do many Florida properties, and we report this to our pest control contractor at once as well as taking corrective action with our in house maintenance team. It seems we did not react in a satisfactory manner in this case.

We take our service seriously and have addressed your concerns with our staff. If you would like to discuss this matter further please call and the hotel manager would be happy to speak with you.

Stayed here during MMW it was great place and location. Perfect spot to get away from the noise and crowd after partying it was also a short drive to downtown and south beach. Friendly accommodating staffs, and the 1 bed suite had all the amenities and the best part for late night craving there's restaurants (johnny rockets, taco place, cocowalk) around the corner on grand ave!!...

Room Tip: Anything above 5th floor where we stayed you'll get a decent view of the sail boats!

If you are not into the loud South Beach scene, this place is for you! We were with a group, one of which rented a 2 bedroom unit (801) in the Mutiny. The view was spectacular with the Miami skyline to the left, and the yacht basin directly below. Hard to take your eyes off the stunning vista. Many windows, all with the gorgeous view. The hotel pool was quiet and clean. Our room on the third floor was a one bedroom, darker and the view was of the parking lot. The park in front of the hotel made a nice walk to the nearby amenities. So... ask for a top floor with a view and you will be delighted! The dryer in the top floor unit was broken and took 24 hours to fix.

Room Tip: ask for a view.

We stayed at the Mutiny four weekends over the winter and each time the experience exceeded our expectations...friendly staff, clean and comfortable suites, great views of Biscayne Bay andperfect location in Coconut Grove. The reservations staff was particularly accomodating and helpful.

Dang, I wish that I had read all of the reviews prior to my trip to the Mutiny. I booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite through Expedia and paid for the entire stay over 2 months ago. The hotel came highly recommended by a friend's husband who stays there frequently on business trips. He actually let us store our suitcases in his room until our room was ready. His room was AWESOME!
So, I decided to stop by the front desk (at 11:00 AM) just to let them know that we were in town and would be checking in later in the afternoon. The front desk clerk says, "yes, we have you down for a 1 bedroom suite". That is when my blood pressure skyrocketed. I'm not sure where/when the mistake was made, but we reserved and paid for a 2 BD a long while back. With 5 ladies, there was no way we could squeeze into a 1 BD. The clerk assured me that they would do their best to accommodate us. Well, when we arrived later that evening to check-in, they put us in room 214. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, it had stained, unstretched carpet, no handle on the master shower, very outdated furniture, no alarm clocks, etc.... The "patio" overlooked the driveway into a parking deck and had a not so great view of old broken chairs from the restaurant nearby. Needless to say, we were not happy. I don't know whose error it was, but we know that this room was the only 2 bedroom not already spoken for and we were given the wrong end of the stick. We were paying the same rate as everyone else in the hotel, but our room was an absolute disgrace. We spent one night in this room. Due to several events happening in the Miami area over the weekend, every nearby hotel was completely booked. After much complaining, the director of hospitality moved us to a higher floor with a much nicer view of the sailboats. This room was exactly what we had hoped for and expected from the very beginning. Will I stay there again??? Only if I book directly with the hotel and am guaranteed a nice room with a view. It won't be anytime soon.

Room Tip: Higher than the 3rd floor and a view of the Bay.

I remember speaking with you when you were here and am happy we were able to get you into a room that met your expectations. I'm just sorry about the issues you encountered trying to get the situation resolved. I can tell you that we have taken unit 214 out of service until the necessary improvements are made. Thank you for your patience and we hope to have you back again.

After staying at a large downtown Miami Marriott (18th floor but VERY loud), I was thrilled to find this small and cozy hotel in a quiet area. Amazed at the large 2 bedroom suite, sorry we only had one day here. Beautiful balcony overlooking Biscayne Bay, walking distance from to the small shops and restaurants in the area. Small pool, good staff, I will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Try for a view of the bay.
