The hotel is actually in a great location with a nice mall and lake view (man-made) within walking distance. The hotel is pretty dated. The rooms haven’t been updated in quite some time. I believe this location is independently owned and the owner does not have the money to upgrade. No flat screen TV’s, non-modern design, dated furniture and a weird smell. Absolutely nothing spectacular at all, although I was only staying here because I had to work in downtown Miami and it was the night of the BCS Championship Bowl Game so no hotels available downtown until the next day. The reception staff was good. My waiter for the free breakfast wasn’t rude but wasn’t pleasant either; he acted like I was bothering him. My room was ok for one night, however one of my coworkers had ants in his room (on bottom level) and couldn’t change rooms due to the game and they were booked for night. I can’t say I would stay here again and I can’t say it was the worst stay ever either.

The hotel gets bonus points for being walking distance from a big mall with a pleasant lake view, for using china instead of styrofoam for breakfast, and for the helpful staff at reception - but unfortunately, there were some minus points too...

Our room smelt of stale cigarette smoke (as did the 4th floor corridors) but all the windows are bolted shut so it is impossible to get any fresh air circulating. By the end of our stay it was just stifling - recycled air since how many years, you just don't want to think about it.

Breakfast was OK - a good selection - but the tables were dirty and staff made no effort to wipe them clean for the next diners. I complained on our second day, since I don't think guests should be having to clear other guests' mess away. It improved marginally, but the tables were still full of crumbs from previous diners. They also only have one - ONE - toaster, so there is an inevitable queue. It would not be too hard to just buy a second...

Overall, we would probably stay again, since it was good value for money, but some things could be improved, as stated above.

If you find yourself travelling in the Miami/Kendall area, please make an effort to stay at this property! The facility is very clean and the personnel is great! If you need reccommendations for what to do in the area, Carmen can certainly help with that! She gave great advice during my stay! For those wanting to visit the South Beach area, it isn't much of a drive and very easy to find from this location! Make sure to see Pilar in housekeeping as she does a great job keeping the facility clean and her staff is amazing! Would definitely stay again and have already reccommended to others!
