“Definitely Not My First Choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

The hotel is actually in a great location with a nice mall and lake view (man-made) within walking distance. The hotel is pretty dated. The rooms haven’t been updated in quite some time. I believe this location is independently owned and the owner does not have the money to upgrade. No flat screen TV’s, non-modern design, dated furniture and a weird smell. Absolutely nothing spectacular at all, although I was only staying here because I had to work in downtown Miami and it was the night of the BCS Championship Bowl Game so no hotels available downtown until the next day. The reception staff was good. My waiter for the free breakfast wasn’t rude but wasn’t pleasant either; he acted like I was bothering him. My room was ok for one night, however one of my coworkers had ants in his room (on bottom level) and couldn’t change rooms due to the game and they were booked for night. I can’t say I would stay here again and I can’t say it was the worst stay ever either.

The hotel gets bonus points for being walking distance from a big mall with a pleasant lake view, for using china instead of styrofoam for breakfast, and for the helpful staff at reception - but unfortunately, there were some minus points too...

Our room smelt of stale cigarette smoke (as did the 4th floor corridors) but all the windows are bolted shut so it is impossible to get any fresh air circulating. By the end of our stay it was just stifling - recycled air since how many years, you just don't want to think about it.

Breakfast was OK - a good selection - but the tables were dirty and staff made no effort to wipe them clean for the next diners. I complained on our second day, since I don't think guests should be having to clear other guests' mess away. It improved marginally, but the tables were still full of crumbs from previous diners. They also only have one - ONE - toaster, so there is an inevitable queue. It would not be too hard to just buy a second...

Overall, we would probably stay again, since it was good value for money, but some things could be improved, as stated above.

Thank you for taking the time and let us know about your Hotel experience. I see you notice that we use real china to serve the breakfast and the buffet is excellent. We are working on an outdoor breakfast patio so you will have more space during busy time.
Thank you again for staying with us.

If you find yourself travelling in the Miami/Kendall area, please make an effort to stay at this property! The facility is very clean and the personnel is great! If you need reccommendations for what to do in the area, Carmen can certainly help with that! She gave great advice during my stay! For those wanting to visit the South Beach area, it isn't much of a drive and very easy to find from this location! Make sure to see Pilar in housekeeping as she does a great job keeping the facility clean and her staff is amazing! Would definitely stay again and have already reccommended to others! Thanks for the great stay!

Room Tip: Room 314 I believe it was, is conveniently hidden around a little corner and kind of set off to itse...

Pleasant simple hotel in the suburbs of Miami. Receptionists are friendly and fast check-in/out. The hotel has ample free parking, a small outdoor pool, behind the hotel is a shopping center. The rooms are quite old and worn out, the old carpet in the room does not inspire too clean impression, on the shower curtain´s rod is rusty. Bu the bed was comfortable. Simple (for Europeans) breakfast with good fresh waffles is served free of charge, but space/room for breakfast is very small.

If you get a good price and the hotel can be recommended, but it certainly need renovation.

We stayed here overnight on our way to the Keys after arriving on a late flight into Ft. Lauderdale. I thought the check in process was easy, the hotel was easy to get around. I was mildly concerned on our way to the room because I could hear people in their rooms talking, but once we got to our room, we didn't hear anyone else. The room was nicely decorated. The sheets were comfortable. It was clean. In the morning, we had the breakfast which included waffles, precooked eggs, and ham in addition to the usual continental breakfast fare. I was very happy with the hotel. The hotel is very close to the Turnpike so it was conveniently located. I would stay here again.

Relatively inexpensive. We're not light sleepers. The walls are paper thin, we could hear our neighbors talking in normal voices in their room, anyone and everyone in the hallway and traffic noise in the mall. Antiquated room decor. Worn carpeting throughout. No blankets on the bed, just a heavy bedspread used by others. We doubted that it was dry cleaned between guests. One small slow elevator for four floors. This is an older hotel and shows it's age. One person at the front desk so if you need something and they happen to be on the phone you will be ignored. Free buffet breakfast in a crowded area off the lobby. Considering the number of rooms the seating is this area is quite limited. Looks nice on the outside but the inside is a different story. The location is good, near the highway and close to restaurants and shopping but that was the only redeeming feature as far as we're concerned. We won't return.

The Country Inn & Suites Miami (Kendall), in the south of miami is close to the Everglades National Park and the Interstate. The room was smal and older furniture. The floor was dirty. The staff was friendly and the hot breakfast was great. The outdoor pool was clean and big.
