“Not as yucky this year!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

First and Foremost, the Front Desk was pleasant and accommodating!. We stayed two Saturdays this trip. On the first Saturday of our layover to Brazil we got a nice quiet room. So we requested the same room for the following week. TA-Dah we had it waiting for us at 9pm when we arrived back from Brazil.

The main hotel was cleaner too!

Some construction signs so that leads me to believe updates are happening.

The rooms need renovating yet. The carpeting is too old to clean and needs to be pulled I would replace with hard surface flooring like in the bathrooms. Easier to clean and does not retain smoke from travelers who do not obey the 100% non smoking rule.

Had to laugh ... The shower head is a huge pan head design. Not conducive to quick turn around showers. I cannot believe anyone would take a long relaxing shower at a layover hotel,

Room Tip: Ask for street side

I was stuck on the elevator for 35 long minutes with four other people. When I spoke with the front desk after being saved by the police and fire dept. The rude girl behind the desk had no apologies and told me" the elevators don't break down very often" Well l I have been on a few elevators in my life and have never been trapped before. This hotel is very poor on every level. I do not recommend staying here at the Miami International Airport Hotel.

Dear Glamerpuss,
Thank you for staying at the Miami International Airport Hotel. Your feedback is highly appreciated; I have addressed all issues with both Front Desk Manager and Housekeeping Manager. I apologize for the way you were treated and spoken to while staying with us. Let me reassure you that this is not an indicative of how we treat our guest. Costumer services and cleanliness is our number one priority and I apologize for failing on both subjects.

I hope you give us another opportunity in the future to be of service to you.

Once again, thank you.

Neat and OK hotel in the middle of the Miami Airport, especially if you have connection flight with OneWorld-alliance/American Airlines - this hotel could not be more central. OK-sized rooms with everything you need, furniture and design a bit "out-dated" but if you are tired and only need for a good-night sleep - this is the place. You do not need wait or pay for taxis or shuttles, you just take the elevator directly from the terminal to your own room. Had some problems during the night, as people were coming and going and they were really loud.

We had an overnight layover in Miami returning from Great Exuma. From other reviews I did not expect much from the room itself. The other reviewers were correct. 1 to 2 star room. The problem was we booked this for convenience and it would have been more convienent and cheaper to stay offsite. Upon arriving and clearing customs we dragged our luggage to the hotel. It was checked through, but no one knew where to drop it back off. We stood in line for a long time because one clerk was working and the group in front of us was arguing about the price. We paid over $220 for the night including taxes. We inquired about help with the luggage in the morning and were told there was no help available. When I pressed the matter because I had seen the service online the clerk threatened to call the police. Very early in the morning we had to drag the luggage to the far end of the airport. If we had stayed off site we would have been shuttled from baggage claim and back to checkin, paid less and had a much nicer room. We stayed at the Sofetil on the way down and had a much better experience for less money.

Room Tip: Stay at a different property.

Having read previous reviews, we were a bit concerned about this hotel but need not to have worried.
We stayed for one night on arrival from Europe and then one night on our departure. Both times we were met with a friendly attitude from Reception. On our second stay, we arrived around 1.30 pm since we dropped off a rental car and were advised that the room wouldn't be ready until 3 pm That was fine and expected since this was the same check-in time at all the hotels we stayed at during our Florida vacation.
There was no baggage storage facility but we were invited to sit in the lounge to wait. This was convenient but we were disturbed by a lady member of staff sitting at the bar and conversing with the barman in a loud voice for the whole time we were there. It was a quiet period with no customers using the bar but the staff should be advised that this was an area for guests and not a social room for staff.
The room was fine with a view of a wall and machinery but, for goodness sake, this hotel is in the airport terminal building and one can hardly expect a beautiful view over mountains or a lake or something. It's a place to sleep and shower not a resort hotel.
Beds were comfortable and yes, there was some noise from other rooms and in the corridor but again, it's an airport hotel and one must expect to hear people moving about at all sorts of hours.
Breakfast was fine with three or four choices. We chose the cooked breakfast with eggs and ham together with toast, coffee and juice. The only place we stayed at where breakfast was cooked to order.
No fault with cleanliness or comfort and the convenience to flights was much appreciated.
On our arrival, because of the 6 hour time difference from Europe, we woke at 3 am and rather than sit in our room and try to watch TV at a very low volume so we didn't disturb other guests, we were able to take a walk around the airport terminals which was an interesting insight into night activity there. Tell me another hotel where one would be able to take a walk around at 3 o'clock in the morning.
For what it is, it is very acceptable.

We did not actually stay at this hotel. We just had drinks at the "bar" by the elevators at the main concourse level. The server took my credit card to pay for the drinks (no remote reader was offered). When we arrived home, there was a message to contact the Visa fraud department. Someone had copied the number and used that card. This was the only place where that particular card was ever out of my sight. VISA did reverse the fraudulent charge, so I was not out of pocket. Lesson learned: If a card reader is not brought to you, pay cash.

When our honeymoon got extended a day because we couldn't make it out due to a snow storm we opted to stay here because we had to be up at 4am for our flight! Front desk staff was very friendly, the normal rate they said was $185 + tax (internet said $165...) and because the airline referred us we paid $99 + tax! MUCH BETTER, so use that if you can.
Our room itself was beautiful, very modern and HUGE comfortable bed. The bathroom is the best part! Tile floor to ceiling with Bath and Body Work products (the only time I've actually used a hotel's offerings)
Check-out in the morning was very quick and efficient so we could get on our way to our flight.
NEGATIVES: When the people in the room next to us woke up at 3am and took a shower it was VERY loud in our room. And the view -- there wasn't one. There was a curtain pulled the entire length of the furthest wall, when we pulled it back there was one tiny window (about 1/4 the length of the wall) that gave us a view ... of a roof below us. And the windows are ugly, as I assume they have to be secure given we're in the actual airport.
Breakfast comes with your stay, but starts at 6am, so we missed it! :( Also, they don't have a swimming pool.
