“its not that bad, other reviewers expected a Vegas Hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Listen we stayed here on our way from Key West To Tampa. Simple. Needed a hotel on the back roads that connect these cities around the everglades & we stayed here. There arent any other options actually. The people below & soon to be above complaining are senseless, its as if they planned to stay here like there are going to vegas. Its not anything close to a Vegas hotel. Its a slot machine hotel which has a niche market towards hispanics. Its really nice from outside, interior just another big Hotel. We only required sleep, but then we ended up gambling, we ended up using 2nd floor bar & we ate at the buffet & got good sleep. But we knew what to expect. Look at my other reviews -when it comes to hotel stays im practical. You should only be staying here is these are sensible reasons, 1: your a hispanic that loves to gamble in the area 2:your passing through the area entering or leaving everglades national park 3:your here for a family reunion -there are very few reasons to be here -But its a good hotel for families & friends -to rest up or get some food, food isnt great but its passable. Rooms are from the early 90's with old bedsheets & classic sized rooms with basic needs. Good bathroom, good shower & sleep. we were here for 12 hours & used alot of the hotel. This is not a Vegas Casino Hotel, dont let the outside fool you -its a good stay. Sign up for resort membership & get the room instantly for cheap.

The rooms were nice, comfortable beds, and clean, though no refrigerator or microwave. Food was reasonable, even cheap, and good (we ate in the buffet).

Some staff were evidently in disdain of non-hispanics and the woman at the buffet directed me to the wrong place when I asked here about breakfast options. She didn't bother to inform me of the various options and that wasted my time and good humor when I found she had directed me to the sandwich bar.

Other staff members were great despite some struggling with English. The non-English speaking staff always hod someone to help. The casino could use some employee training.

It would have been nicer if our west facing windows had been clean.

Im a miccosukee tribal member myself and i think i this one of the worst hotels i ever been to. Its in the middle of nowhere and the service is bad the rates are horrible and its has this smell of smoke and gas mixed together. The rooms were fine but very cold. The front desk does not know the meaning or concept of costumer service and the floors are dirty. The food sucks so badly i think a soup kitchen is better than this. The gaming floor is out dated and is something out of the 1980's. this hotel is horrible. This place was better before but After 2007 this place has just went down hill. And cheapsakes work here to!!

OK, this has to be the worst Casino/Hotel in the United States. We entered the casino and tried checking in to the room we reserved and it was unavailable! How, it was booked 2 weeks prior? The attendent said it was because the presidential suite was under construction and then was contradicted by a manger that the room was booked until that Sunday. They gave away our room then offered another suite which was nice, offered the room at a discount and when I left proceeded to charge me regular room rate. I tried to show the lady manager I was given a discount, she then argued with me saying "You cannot have a suite for a cheaper rate, sorry it doesn't work that way, laughed and handed me the bill in full. The Casino is a joke, if you don't smoke you will leave with cancer!!! Only smokless area is a 1000sq ft room filled with 1980's slots that do not work and frankly, I don't think any other casino in the world ever had slots this bad. They honetsly had 3 or 4 recongnizable machines nothing like any typical casino and we have been to a lot. Cruise ships have better gaming than this establishment. Buffet, LOL inedible. 45 min from Airport, Nothing within 4 to 5 miles. Dirty people. Very unkept Casino. Stay Away.

We chose this hotel because it was one of the closest we could get to the Everglades. If you could separate the hotel from the casino, it would not have been a bad experience at all. I had read about the smokiness of the casino, but nothing could have prepared me for the fog of smoke you could actually see in the casino. Once we got out of the lobby, things were fine. The room was clean, well decorated, and did not smell of smoke at all. They actually make you sign a document upon check in that says if you smoke in the room, you will be charged $200 for cleaning fees, however I am not sure how that is enforced. Just from walking through the lobby to get in and then again to go out to eat, My hair smelled of smoke the next morning, so I had to wash my hair the next morning and rush through the lobby to the car.

Room Tip: We were on the 8th floor and our rooms were newly remodeled.

It's hard to rate this hotel because I would give it a BIG negative. From the minute we walked into the hotel we were profiled. Our bags were searched for no reason. We noticed no one else had there bags searched but us (discrimmination is what it felt like). The casino smells and every machine we tried to use did not work. They stole our money. They fail to tell you that you have to redeem your money by midnight or you lose it. No Casino should have a deadline on when to cash YOUR own winnings. The front desk has no concept of customer service. They do not care!!! As for the food, It looked like it was cooked the night before and left out for hours. If you are looking for a good casino go to Calder Casino.

Since all hotels in the Miami Area were booked, we ended up in this awful casino hotel. You enter a huge hall with loads of slot machines, a horrible permanent noise, people drinking and smoking everywhere in a place that hasn't seen much remodeling since it started out in the 1970's. The reception staff did not seem to be very happy with their job, the only friendly staff was the female manager, the rest of the crew were very unwilling.
We had rooms on the 7th and 8th floor, which were updated, with a new bath room and a good comfortable bed. WiFi was included, but to retrieve username and password was solely possible through very unfriendly reception staff.
The inside pool was closed and the gym consisted of a treadmill, one cross trainer and a weight tower. Though in southern Florida they did not have an outside pool.
The Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and a car is a must since there is no infrastructure whatsoever around.
You want to go there only for gambling, smoking and drinking. Horrible place.

Room Tip: 7th and 8th floors only!
