“Excellent one night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We stayed one night here at the start of our holiday. Great location for the airport, about 10 mins by car. We changed to this hotel for the location as our earlier flight had been cancelled and meant we would be getting in past 9pm.The warm cookie they give you on check in is a nice touch! We couldn't really fault our short stay the room was clean, comfy bed, great shower, lovely view over looking the pool. The bar was well stocked and open till midnight, sat drinking by the pool till late. Free parking. The buffet breakfast is very good, full continental choice as well as the usual, which I opted for. We would have no problem staying again.

Nice clean hotel, with a comfortable bed, and the staff is friendly. If in the area again, we will definitely stay there. This was a business trip for us, so we didn't take advantage of the amenities, so there for we have no comments for the gym, pool etc.....

One can tell that a lot of money went into the renovation as the lobby, elevators, and rooms are all top notch. All common areas look wonderful. The problem is the management - they are either looking the other way, or just don't seem to care.
The breakfast was good, but the service was horrible. I was looking for my waiter to get my bill, and he was stocking the buffet. Good news is that he had a food service glove on, but why is a waiter stocking the buffett. Shouldn't there be a cook, or runner to do that? I asked another waiter for a refill of OJ, and rather than get a refill, she walked into the kitchen and told my waiter, who then came out to serve the OJ. Talk about lazy, and a total lack of management.

The main light switch in my room also controlled the TV. Who does this? A light switch should control lights, not the TV. Again, no management oversight.

When I opened the door to my room, there were three fliers for local restuarants under the door. I have never seen three fliers, from three different restaurants, under a door in any hotel, let alone a full service hotel. I am sure this hotel has cameras, so somebody has to be looking the other way to not see three people wander their halls putting stuff under every door. It makes one wonder what else is walking around the hotel unseen. I brought this to the attention of the front desk person, who seemed rather uninspired by my revelation. I assume this must happen a lot. This hotel needs new management!

Nice and helpful staff. Convenient to the airport. Need a car if you want a good restaurant off the premises. Downstairs bar needs better food and a more friendly and welcoming staff. Upstairs breakfast girl couldn't be nicer

We were in town for a day and decided to give the Double Tree a try. The hotel looked great when we checked in we were even offered a complimentary upgrade to the Executive floor. Not happy when I found a baby Palmetto roach crawling on the bed while laying down watching T.V. Front desk offered to spray in the middle of the night. Who sleeps with the Toxic smell of bug spray! They did not offer to move us to a new room and simply said "Its because people leave food in the room and thats why the bugs come" I will consider an alternate location if in Miami again.

The DoubleTree in Miami - while having wonderful opportunity is a bit in need of updating. While the room was as expected - a group dinner took nearly three hours to eat - none of us receiving our meal simultaneously.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, one on either end of our cruise out of Miami. I always love the cookies from DoubleTree, sooo yummy. Their workout facility was amazing, truly one of the most state-of-the-art and large facilities I have ever seen. The pool and hot tub were outside and were fairly sizeable. We did use both. We did not eat at the fancy restaurant there, but we did eat at the breakfast buffet as well as the bar/lunch place. Both had very tasty food and good service. I really liked the garden, lagoon-type landscape when you walk outside the automatic doors toward the pool area. The in-hotel convenience shop was alright, and our rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. There is a large mini-mall attached to the hotel, but it's not filled with the type of stores you might expect. Most places are small and filled with clothes or jewelry of some type. It's a bit of a maze, and you can easily get lost. There wasn't anything we were interested in purchasing. We also appreciated the shuttle to the port of Miami for our cruise. It was $10 I believe, but that was cheaper than taking a cab. They also have a free shuttle to and from the Miami International Airport.
