My husband and I booked the Sheraton Miami Mart through Hotwire. We were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay prior to departing for our cruise. We flew into Miami the evening of January 1st, with our cruise departing the Port of Miami the following day. After collecting our luggage, I called the hotel from the courtesy phone at the airport and was told that the shuttle makes regular stops at the airport and to just head outside to the shuttle stop to wait for its next arrival. Luckily, the shuttle had just picked up another family and was on its way back to the hotel when we went out to the stop, so we only had to wait a few minutes.
The hotel is not right next to the airport, which I liked, but was only a few (less than 10) minutes drive away. We arrived at the Sheraton around after 11pm (our flight had been delayed) and were checked in quickly and courteously. Our room was quite large, with several wall to ceiling windows and a view of the pool. Although we were near the ice machine, that room was closed off by glass doors, so we didn't hear a thing. Everything was clean and in good repair. The only complaint we have about this stay is that the bell desk misplaced one of our pieces of luggage (they accidentally placed it on a shuttle bound for a different cruise ship), but were able to recover it after about an hour or so. They didn't offer us any refreshments or any compensation while we sat in the lobby waiting for our suitcase, but we did receive a few extra Starpoints after an e-mail regarding the experience was placed to customer service. The management there has assured me that they are taking steps to ensure that this does not occur again in the future, which I hope they are actually doing.
All in all, this hotel fit our needs for a reasonably priced, clean and comfortable place to stay for one evening prior to departing for our cruise. I would probably stay there again for the same purpose, but not for an extended vacation since they aren't really near anything and don't have a beach.
