First the hotel shuttle: efficient (we waited about 10 minutes and it showed up), but the driver was unfriendly, threw our luggage as if it was garbage, and drove way to fast. Check in was good. We got into the room, which seems a 2*, not a 3* sup or so as a Hilton is supposed to be. A couple years ago I stayed in a "la Quinta" hotel, which in fact is a 2*, but less than half price of a Hilton. So... As I wanted a nicer place, I paid much more but also expected more! Room was outdated. "OK". Then they want U$ 15 + tax to get wireless Internet for one night. The worse was restaurant/dinner. First the place looks like a cheap motel. The restaurant's chairs are in poor shape, mostly the benches, which are destroyed/scratched. YES. Service at restaurant was average. the bad thing was the food itself. I ordered a Caesar Salad; when it came, it was a few pieces of lettuce, and a large, old, dry piece of bread. You call that a Caesar salad? At the most, a very simple, "naked" green salad. I told the waiter, she answered "I know... everyone says the same about it". We also had a pasta which was decent. We had a calamari, which was 80 % fat, 20 % product. Couldn't eat it. All this, with a few beers, for U$ 80. The days before we had several very good to delicious meals in Charleston, an upscale touristy town in SC, in nice restaurants and our 4* hotel, for less than this. That is a shame. Shame on you, Hilton company. I have worked in the hospitality industry and my business is tourism, so I have some idea of service. The only good (unexpected after the horrible dinner) surprise was breakfast, which was good, good variety of fruits, breads etc, and staff was also more friendly and helpful. It seemed two different individuals or companies run the restaurant! When we took the shuttle back to the airport (same driver as the first day), I put some fragile items in the middle of the suitcase, not in the side where his delicate movements would have broken any of these items. After such an experience with a so well-known brand as Hilton, I will never use any of their hotels anymore.
