“Great Stay at Embassy Suites Miami”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2009

I'll start off by saying that I really enjoyed this hotel. I have stayed in Miami hotels before a cruise 8 times in the last four years. This hotel has been the best by far.

We arrived at the hotel around 6pm. Check-in was quick and accurate. The front desk associate informed us that the Manager's Reception had started and that we had an hour and a half to enjoy the reception.

We went to our room after check-in. The room was very spacious, and clean. I particularly liked the fact that the sleeping area and living area were separated by a door, creating two separate rooms. The room was also equipped with a microwave, which was good for my sister because she needed to heat something up.

After unloading our bags in the room, we went down to the Manager's Reception. The bar staff was very friendly. The drink list was more than I would have expected from a free cocktail party. It was a nice break after a long day of travel. The design of the hotel has an atrium-style, open-concept dining/social area that's the height of the hotel, with water elements and tropical plants. It's very inviting.

The highlight of the stay was the breakfast. I was expecting a warm continental breakfast. However, what I got was a big buffet style breakfast with warm pancakes, fresh fruit, cereal, breakfast sides (sausage/bacon/homestyle potatoes), biscuits and gravy, juices, milk, coffee...etc., etc., etc. all served in the open atrium area. The perfect start to our morning, and COMPLIMENTARY!

At check-out, there were no surprise charges. Parking is only $11, and includes in/out privileges, which is more than reasonable for the area. There's also a free shuttle from/to the airport; however, we did not need to use it as we had a rental car.

Overall, a great start to our vacation. I will definitely be staying here again in November for my next cruise.

My stay at the Embassy Suites Miami Airport was on a Thursday night before a cruise out of the Port of Miami on Friday. As far as I can remember, my last stay at this Embassy Suites was in the mid-1990's and I have fond memeries of that stay. I was picked up at the airport promptly after my call to the hotel and I arrived at the hotel at 1045, my room was ready at 1200 noon. The 2-room setup was very freshly decorated and had more towels than anyone could ever possibly use in one stay. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets fit the bed properly - bottom sheet completely covered the matress & stayed that way for the entire night. My room did smell slightly of mildew when entering, but, that was solved by turning off the air conditioning which wasn't needed. However that did make the sound of the planes and trains nearby seem louder.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the elevators in this hotel are slow. However, there is a second bank in the rear of the building away from the front desk. Posted notices said that refurbishment of the elevators is in process. I didn't have to wait long at all during my stay.

I was able to walk safely through an underpass to a local Burger King & gas station convenience store. Pollo Tropical & Office Depot was also nearby. The 2-hour free coctail reception was almost dead during my stay as was the complimentary breakfast on Friday morning. The gym is very well-equipped and the pool area was well-maintained. There are also 4 complimentary internet stations with free printing, which were also never busy during my stay. Transportation back to Miami Airport was also fast & friendly.

  • Liked — Bed & Complimentary cocktail hour & breakfast.
  • Disliked — Lobby decor somewhat out-dated.

I fly through Miami on a regular basis and this is my hotel of choice.

It has these upsides: an excellent gym, an ample free breakfast, high speed Internet, an excellent location near the airport and lots of cable channels.

The negatives would be slow elevators (shades de Havana) and very little nearby (shoppings, restaurants and bars).

If you are flying in late, take the hotel shuttle van from the airport and pick up your rental car the next day from Enterprise (located right across the street).

  • Liked — Location near airport and gym
  • Disliked — Few restaurants, bars, shopping centers or supermarkets nearby

I am a travel agent and I had the pleasure of staying at the Embassy Suites. The staff was the best that I have come across in many years. They were courteous and always ready to assist. Hats off to Aldy and Nicole. Embassy Suites should be proud to have staff as great as these young ladies. They really should be in management or training other staff on how to treat guest at the hotel. I will alway try to stay at this property when I am in Miami as long as they keep this wonderful staff. Thanks!

As with most Embassy Suites, this hotel provided us with a convenient, comfortable overnight family trip to Miami. As you can tell from the pictures, they take the tropical theme to heart in their decor and the rooms are freshly remodeled with comfortable beds and LCD TV's. The staff seemed accomodating and very responsive, the building was remarkably quiet despite being at the end of the runway, and the complimentary breakfast wasn't gourmet, but it was quite satisifying.

There are a few items to consider with this hotel:
~Unless you are quickly transferring between the airport and/or a cruise, it's best that you have a car at your disposal (parking is $10 per night).
~However the property is right in the middle of a swirl of intersections and highway interchanges, so be prepared to do some alert navigating.
~The neighborhood doesn't abound with top-notch restaurants...I recommend jumping in the car for a bite at Bayside Marketplace downtown (good variety, a vibrant crowd, beautiful views, and even a nifty food court!).
~Plus downtown and South Beach are a straight shot, 10-15 minutes away.

Have a great trip!

We stayed two nights pre cruise in November and found this hotel a solid choice for the money. The positives: Very large, nice but not great rooms. They include comfortable beds, large living room which has space for a table for 4, and three sinks total. Room was quiet except for some planes taking off (we faced the airport. The staff worked hard including fast check-in (still busy at 1 AM), and helpful in setting up port transportation for 23 at $10pp. The pool area was nice, although the pool was cold, and the workout room was first class. The grounds and lobby are in nice condition. The breakfast was good although large lines formed later in the morning. This is a large hotel which I suspect is very busy every weekend so expect large numbers at breakfast. The staff worked hard and seating was adequate.

The negatives: The hotel is located in a no man’s land. The only possible place to walk to is a Bennigans, which I would not recommend going to after dark. We ate at the restaurant for lunch and the food and service was good, although we were the only customers. At dinner, the staff and cooks were terribly understaffed. It took forever to get our food and it came out randomly. This is with only half the tables filled, and people were waiting to get in. I would just order room service, which should take about 45 min to an hour. Towards the end of the free drink time, the line was huge with 25-30 people waiting. The two bar tenders were working hard but could not keep up with the demand.

Overall a good hotel, just don’t get to dinner or the bar line late.

We booked this hotel for 3 days prior to our cruise. It was a great deal, however, it was the worst Embassy Suites that I have been to. The positive things about staying here is of course the room size and I also enjoy the decor of the Embassy Suites, there is a pond area with koi in the courtyard. There was a gift shop, but pretty spendy. This location also has a car rental company in the lobby, that is convenient. It also has a free shuttle to and from the airport as well as $10 parking. Parking near the ocean hotels was closer to $15 or $20 a day.

The thing that I did not like the most was the breakfast which at other Embassy Suites is usually fabulous. Here, it was not great at all. Two of the days, they did not have made to order omelettes, the fruit selection was not great either. It was comparable to a Holiday Inn breakfast-which would not be horrible, but knowing what other Embassy Suites have, was disappointing. The hapypy hour was so crowded, that it took 20 minutes in line to get one drink. There were no tables open 2 of the 3 nights we were there.

Overall, it was a good hotel, however, I probably would not stay at this location again.
