“Great Pre/Post cruise hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2011

We stayed at this hotel on August 27, 2011 before a cruise out of the Port of Miami. There were 19 of us in the group and we could not have had a better time!!! We arrived at around 10:30AM, and our King room was ready!!! We went right up to the 8th floor to check out our beautiful suite! The room was gorgeous and modern. It has a nice, large bathroom, living room, and bedroom. There is a kitchenette with a fridge and microwave. Our 4 and 5 year olds enjoyed sleeping on the sofa bed and thought it was really comfy!

We went straight out to the pool and had a nice swim. Yes, there are planes flying overhead, but the kids thought it was the coolest thing they have ever seen!! We decided to get some dinner and asked the front desk for some suggestions. They recommended the Hitching Post and they arranged for the restaurant to come and pick us up. This is a casual Mexican/Cuban restaurant and the food was GREAT and the prices were very reasonable. It was a very nice meal!

We then met the rest of our group at the manager's cocktail reception. We enjoyed some drinks and snacks and socialized with everyone in the beautiful atrium area of the hotel! We then had a great night's sleep and enjoyed a delicious hot breakfast the next morning before getting the shuttle to the port.

We loved it here!

This hotel is in bad shape. The positives: the airport shuttle service was on time, the driver was friendly, the breakfast hostess was friendly. The parking lot was torn up and someone came out of a tent to see what we wanted when we drove up. Then she collected a fee. The front desk staff barely made eye contact during check-in. The rooms were hot and stuffy; there was nothing we could do to make the temperature or humidity comfortable. The bed/pillows were uncomfortable, sheets scratchy and the towels were thin. The view was a shipyard and stagnant water. The breakfast buffet was the usual Embassy Suites quality so were didn't expect much. There were people milling around, for a wedding maybe? The business center was full, crammed with about 8 teenagers, playing games. Fortunately they let me use the one computer where the printer connection was working to print my boarding pass. I left the hotel early for the airport and worked in the Delta Club lounge - a much more civilized and comfortable setting.

Room Tip: highway or mosquito pond are your choices

EmbassyMiami, Director of Sales at Embassy Suites Miami Airport, responded to this review, September 30, 2011
Thank you for your recent stay at the Embassy Suites/Miami International Airport and your review of our hotel.

We are pleased that we were able to meet your expectations regarding our airport shuttle and the friendliness of our breakfast server. However, we are very sorry that we missed the mark regarding the quality of our accommodations. Please be advised that we are currently working on an upgrade to our A/C system which will eliminate any issues with room temperature you may have experienced. Additionally, I will review your comments regarding quality of our bed linen with our Director of Housekeeping so that we can make any necessary improvements in this area.

Again, thank you for your review. It is only through customer feedback that we are able to improve our product and service. We hope to welcome you back soon.

Poor maintained rooms. A large group of drunken loud people were celebrating around the lobby until midnight. A visibly intoxicated woman was banging on the room’s door next to our room, crying, and yelling because she was not allowed to get in. It is clear that management does not care about these issues. There are not places to eat around the hotel we had no choice but to eat at the hotel's restaurant one night and it was not the exception...another drunken guy disrupting the peace. It was a very disappointing stay.

I recently stayed at the Embassy Suites Miami Int'l Airport, Miami, Florida. I only realized that the hotel was located in the airport compound when I returning to the airport. It was so quiet and peaceful. And the room, that room was soooo comfortable. The courtyard had the setting of a tropical paradise; the chirping of birds, the flowing waterfalls, the beautiful fishes swimming carelessly in the river, the tropical plants... Being a nature lover I was amazed that such scenery existed in a hotel that gave nothing away upon entering. The service was excellent. We had a scrumptous dinner which was served promptly to my amazement although it was freshly prepared and there appeared to be a full house. Breakfast is served every morning as part of the fare which was very reasonable. Checkout was easy, no problem, courteous and helpful staff. Anytime I am going through Miami again I defintely will stay there, Nice, cool and comfortable place to stay!

I have always enjoyed stays at other Embassy Suites but this one was a disappointment. Upon arriving at the airport we called the hotel at 12:15 a.m. for the shuttle & were told they run on the hour and half hour and where to wait and flag them down. We waited until 12:35 a.m and were told it would be there at 12:45 & to "hang tight". Shuttles to other hotels continued to come and many passed by twice during our wait. At 10 minutes to 1 a.m it finally arrived with one passenger, no explanation and no apology. Then we arrived to musty smelling halls and rooms. I couldn't find any place to adjust the thermostat in the room. The breakfast however was top notch as usual. And the shuttle departed on the time that morning. When we checked out the next morning the clerk asked how our stay was and when I said "no very good" she replied she was sorry and that was it.

This was our first time at an Embassy suites, and it was pretty good. The breakfast greeter was wonderful - very nice Polish lady who made sure everyone was being accomodated and was very apologetic for any delays getting through the omelet making line. The food was fresh, everything was clean, and there was a nice variety.
Don't count on anything for the manager's reception though, which was the biggest downside - it should just be advertised as a "snack time" or something, since EVERY night was the same pretzels, popcorn, and little goldfish crackers and that was it. The popcorn ran out routinely as well.
The hotel is a little dated, and the front elevator can be slow. The hotel is very accessible to downtown Miami pretty easily. Its a good 45 minutes from the Ft. Lauderdale airport, and there is no transportation there, so be aware of that. The pool is nice too - our teenage/college age kids really enjoyed that. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Our room was adequate for 6, with a pull out sofa and 2 double beds in the adjoining room. Be sure...

Family of 4 with two teens (17 yr + 14 yr old)

We stayed at the Embassy Suites for one night, when our onward flight out of MIA was cancelled. After a 9 hour flight from the UK and the news that our next flight was cancelled, we were in need of some rest. The Embassy Suites was perfect.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was large and clean and the free drinks hour was just what the doctor ordered - I needed a beer at that point! The inclusive breakfast was great too.

We'd never stayed at an Embassy Suites before (they don't have them in the UK) but after staying with them in Miami, we're seriously considering staying with them again in Orlando as a base for a Disney trip in 2012.

In short - recommended.

In my opinion, superb value for money and a very pleasant experience all round.
