“Not as it appears to be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

This hotel is near to the airport. I spent there one night as my flight was cancelled. You have to know it is NOT luxurious. It is a low level hotel that airlines would expectedly send their clients to because they most probably get a good offer. I had dinner there. It was more of home-made food style. An open buffer including a minimal salad bar, and rice and macaroni, and chicken and beef. The water and coke etc were in jugs. No proper hotel serving although the people were helpful. The receptionists tried to help in every way and were nice. The elevators are oldish style. The rooms had a lot of non-working TV channels, and a manually controlled air condition (split unit), without a remote control. The bed only had a sheet and a semi-thick cover. You can spend a night there to be close to the airport with a cheap alternative. I dont know their rates, but I wouldn't expect them to be as expensive as the Hilton or other high level hotels near the airport. They have a shuttle every 30 minutes going to and from the airport.

It is very rare to get a genuine smile and service at the hotel front desk, especially when you are exhausted, your flight got cancelled and you have to stay overnight far away from miami beach. Edwin, Rose and Jose Carlos took my stress away the moment I got to the hotel. They have been so kind and sweet about any matter. If your flight gets cancelled with Delta and you have to choose a place to stay at Miami airport, make it Regency Hotel - that smile and help at the front desk is more value than any stars you can get elswhere.

Room Tip: Choose a room with the view to the pool.

This hotel had good reviews at TripAdvisor, which is why we booked our room there. This is NOT the case. First of all, the pictures are deceptive. This hotel is not at all what the pictures make it look like. Everything inside of this hotel is cheap; from the furniture to the elevator to the details in its design. We had extremely mediocre dinner in the restaurant and were loudly woken up at 2am by the family in the room next door. Paper thin walls, half the tv channels didn't work, just a sheet is provided on the bed. Would not come back!

Yes the staff barely speaks english but they are extremely friendly. The house keepers were friendly and always smiling and gave us all the towels we wanted! parking was great, hotel close to highway, and no issues with the bill. The one issue I can say I had was how expensive breakfast roomservice was but its Miami everythings expensive!!

Our flight was delayed with American Airlines and we opted to stay the night in Miami instead of waiting any longer for our flight... We got a discounted rate from American Airlines to stay at this hotel and in our experience it was definitely worth it!

When we arrived it was about 2am and there was a HUGE line due to other delayed flights. The manager was called and got out of bed to come and check everyone in (all with a very pleasant attitude and smile, btw). We ended up being one of the last to check in and received such great treatment from the staff who had probably gone through a lot with disgruntled customers at 2am.. They even allowed us late check out so that we could get some sleep.

When we got into the room, we found it to be clean and classy. The bed did not have a full comforter but there were blankets in the closet to use. I mean, hey, it's Miami.. It's not like you need it. We had a room with 2 double beds, they were a tad on the small side but that didn't really bother us since both my husband and I are short.. We woke up late, the check out process was easy and quick.

We made our way downstairs and connected to the very fast (and free) wi-fi in the lobby. We then had lunch at the bar area near the lobby. The food was absolutely delicious! I definitely recommend the Garden Pizza!

Overall, we had a great experience at this hotel.. Everything was wonderful especially after a tiring night of flight delays, etc..

I booked this hotel online and was really excited. The pictures looked great and the reviews were overall really good. I must say that this was a disappointment. I would never stay in this hotel again. It is an older hotel and everything was very tired looking. The bed that we stayed in sagged in the middle and was uncomfortable. The cleaning staff was good and they always said hello. There was a negative feeling with the staff at the front desk. They weren't welcoming.
