My wife and I stayed here the night prior to leaving for a cruise. We booked the cruise package, which provided breakfast and transfers to the cruise port for both of us. We arrived early and when we were told the room was not ready, the clerk offered to hold our bags for us while we went out to explore the area. It wasn't long before our room was ready, and I wasn't disappointed. We had a junior suite, which offers plenty of room to move around and space for luggage. The bed was great, and the room was clean and comfortable. Not surprising from a Hilton property. We definitely did not have the experience that vlmcclintock had; perhaps that was an issue associated with the condos (there is a condo residence associated with the hotel; not sure if there is joint ownership though). The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle from the airport, so a taxi ride will cost about $35.
There is a retail gallery attached to the hotel, which I didn't realize from reading the hotel information on the website. The deli offers sizeable sandwiches for a reasonable price, and has breakfast for a nominal price as well. So, you could save money if you chose to.
There is also a free trolley that travels throughout downtown and there is a stop conveniently located across the street. Use it - free is good. Taxis will run you about $20. You can go to the Bayside Marketplace or to the Brickell section of the city. There are some decent restaurants down that way; but don't expect anyone to ask you how your meal is (seems to be that way all over Miami...). There is a CVS on the corner of Second and Biscayne, but it doesn't have a minute clinic if you need it. However, the head pharmacist is one of the nicest people you'll meet.
Overall, I thought this hotel was a good place to settle in for a short visit to Miami, but I couldn't see spending $150+ per night for long. It's a clean, comfortable, place to stay, but if there are cheaper options available, check the reviews on TripAdvisor and decide from there.
