“A pre-cruise palace!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

My husband and I stayed here the night before meeting our cruise ship. We got in very late in the evening around midnight. The front desk staff were a true delight. Very helpful, very pleasant. We were upgraded to a room on the 28th floor with a view of Port of Miami. We could actually see our ship! They gave us an extended checkout time which was very helpful. We got to sleep late! The perfect start to a wonderful day and vacation.

The food at breakfast was excellent. Great coffee. Great selections.

The hotel is very big and very well appointed. There are lots of things to do just steps from the front door. A long walk on the waterfront is a pleasant way to start the day.

I can't say enough nice things about the staff and service in this hotel. It's a very large hotel, but the service is definitely small hotel intimate.

We would definitely use this hotel again and again.

Room Tip: Definitely spring for the room with the view of Port of Miami.

Dear ExploringtheEarth,

Thank you for the excellent and detailed review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your entire stay with us. Indeed, a one night stay at our hotel is a great way to kick off or wind down any cruise vacation, with late checkout and excellent breakfast. Our hotel is located in prime location and in close proximity to the Port of Miami. We are also glad that you had the opportunity to check out the cruise ships from your picturesque guestroom window, it is so easy to waste the day away lounging by the windowsill. We look forward to being your choice hotel on future trips to Miami and also hope that you will extend your stay with us next time around to indulge in all of the amenities our hotel has to offer.

I attended a conference here and was surprised that the conference rate did not include free access to the gym, a daily paper delivered to the door and a trouble free stay. What I mean is that black mold on the shower stall ceiling and grout, locked out of the room for over twenty minutes while they reset the electronic lock (security guard said they have so many problems they are replacing all locks), and attempt to add on charges at check out for "room cleaning" moved the hotel from very good to average at best. The conference space was adequate etc. and I did have a good business breakfast for top dollar in the general restaurant. Also, my room was not ready when I arrived approximately at 4PM and did not get ready until after 6PM when I was already in a reception.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floor should be requested with a full bay view.

The conference I was attending was held here and I now understand why. Very big hotel with many conference rooms and big traffic. The rooms were well appointed though, spacious and big bathrooms. The gym is a good size as well as is the spa area. The service I received was very good from the check-in to the concierge. Very helpful! As it is on Biscayne, there is a pool but not enough chairs to lie out as people are always scrambling to get one.

I recently celebrated my anniversary at the Intercontinental in Miami... It was an absolute great experience: the hotel is impressive, modern, ultra clean... The staff is friendly, welcoming and warm... the rooms are spacious, comfortable and decorated with exquisite taste.. but mainly I was impressed with the customer service. I want to personally thank Mr. Eduardo Rosello, for coordinating our stay... for taking care of all the details and ensuring we were comfortable and enjoying our stay... I also want to thank Ms Florangel at the VIP lounge for her attentions and for the surprise goodies we received in our room!! The staff truly went above and beyond and made our stay special and memorable. Thank you and see you next year! Thanks, Leo Hernandez

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view!

I am staying at the Intercontinental right now for a business conference. I got to the hotel yesterday at 4:30 pm and was told my room wasn't ready. I had to sit around until 6:40 when they finally had my room ready. Then today after my long day of meetings I get back to my room and it didn't get cleaned. I asked the manager about it and he said you have to request room cleaning because some people don't like it. Anyway, I gave it one star because I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

We were going on a cruise and wanted to stay close to the port. My husband was flying in from the West Coast so we thought it best to come in the day before to avoid any complications. We chose the Intercontinental Miami because it was close to the port and close to the airport. Previously we have stayed near the airport prior to our cruise. The cost for our stay at this luxury hotel was actually less than our last pre-cruise stay at a motel near the airport. It was also a nice touch to receive an email from the concierge team prior to our arrival with an offer of assistance.
The hotel is beautifully situated on the bay and is adjacent to a large park. On the other side of the park are multiple options for shopping and dining. Key advantage is that the hotel is less than ten minutes by cab to the port. It was a bit crowded when arriving by cab, but the bell staff was very attentive and prompt in retrieving our baggage. The lobby is huge, airy and light. Check-in was a breeze. Special kudos to Leticia at the front desk. She was pleasant, efficient, and addressed me by name. The room was very nicely designed with upscale furniture, amenities, and a large flat screen television. The pool and walking path areas were lovely and well maintained. The pool had multiple loungers and lounger service. This is a great place for a quick snack at the Blue Water Restaurant. We chose to have drinks and snacks brought to our loungers. The only downside with the pool and walking trail is that there is what appeared to be a condo community next to the pool. I sometimes felt like I was in a fish bowl. We ate in Toro Toro for dinner. Wonderful service by Isa(bella) from Venezuela. The food was excellent. We were surprised that on a Friday night, the restaurant was not crowded. The bar area appeared to be the “to go” spot for local business people. It was very crowded and noisy. To be expected for a bar. The bar service was a tad slow, but understandable for a Friday night. We saw couples, business people and families. Unlike other places where we have stayed, there was no conflict between these groups. We would definitely stay at the Intercontinental Miami again.

Room Tip: Ask fo Leticia.

The hotel is in a great location and walking distance to many restaurants and the Biscayne Bay market area. The rooms were big and clean. There was no free internet access anywhere in the hotel. Access was available for 11.95 for 24 hour time period. As well the in-suite fridge was packed full. If you brought in your own beverages and moved anything in the fridge it would automatically come up as a charge to your room. I was there for a conference and within a one or two block walking distance you could stay at the Mariott or another major hotel for significantly less per night.
