“Faboosh Decorum!”

I had the pleasure of at this hotel the weekend of 11/22/11. The hotel is located in Biscayne Bay close to the Port of Miami. I flew into FLL airport took the Go Shuttle which cost $21 to the hotel. The Hotel is beyond beautiful. Very comtemporary look, A lot of thought was put into outfitting this hotel with pieces (sofas, artwork, vases, etc) which displayed its welcoming vibe. The hoel was also beautifully decorated for for holidays with pops of purple and grey. The hotel staff were very friendly and accomodating. The room were very spacious with huge bay windows.

The Hotel was located across from the Bayfront Park which had lots of shopping, restaurants, outside entertainment(jazz singers, congo players) and you could also take dinner/party cruises nightly. You also have additional shops and restaurants on the neighboring streets. The hotel restaurants may be a bit pricey but you have access to tons of choices steps from your front door.

Another plus there was free light rail system within 1 block of the hotel. There were local buses and cabs galore if you wanted other modes of transporation. Also several parking garages. Note take a cab from here to south Beach will costs you $17.50

All in all if you decide to stay here you are making a terrific choice.
I have included pics to show just how faboosh this hotel is.

stayed at the intercontinental downtown miami pre and post cruise, this is really a 5 star hotel, from the great greeting when you get out of the cab, they take your luggage out of the cab and than to the front desk, the door men are very friendly and will answer any questions you have and will help you with any problems, the hotel lobby is stunning with fresh flowers every where, they have a great resturant in the lobby and a star bucks, the front staff were very nice and always went out of there way to assist you, the rooms were big and very clean with nice flat panel tvs, the beds were very comfortable, the hotel is right downtown near the bay and a very safe and short walk to the bayside market, if we every go out of miami for a cruise we will stay there again

We have stayed at other hotels in Miami but we keep going back to Hotel InterContinental Miami because of the great service and location. The staff are always so welcoming and from arrival you are made to feel right at home. There are restaurants and shops within walking distance and a short cab ride away you can be in South Beach or at one of the large malls - that is if you feel you need to leave the hotel which has a pool bar, spa and restaurant/bar! Will be back.

MySpa at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami provides one of the most zen and relaxing spa experiences around. The spa facility has been planned out in the most thoughtful manner to ensure tranquility, relaxation and peacefulness. The locker room and bathroom are extremely neat and modern. Light all around is dim but warm. There is a nice lounge room with cascading water that is absolutely soothing. The massage rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, with warmed beds whose height can be adjusted for the therapist. I had a full body Swedish Massage and facial by Edwitch. She was amazing. I fell asleep! I also had a manicure and pedicure by a very professional specialist that paid attention to the most subtle detail.
I highly recommend this place. Seldom do I feel so motivated to make recommendations. But in this case, it is well-deserved.

I just stayed at a true gem of a hotel. This was first visit back in a long time. The experience was fantastic from start to finish.

The reservation was made without a hitch and I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised to see the level of service from the first moment I stepped on the property to the last (fantastic).

The Valet welcomed me back to the hotel like they have known me all my life. The bellman held the door for me and also mentioned that it had been a long time. The Front desk agent was young and energetic and suggested the “Taste of Brazil” for diner. What wonderful smell and sounds coming from the Indigo restaurant…

My room… Not only was I pleasantly surprised at the elevator landing I was stunned at the refreshed look of the new décor. I loved the old colors and I thought I would never tire however the new look is fantastic! In my room was a welcome back note from the Front desk manager, a very nice touch.

The new look in the rooms was not only eye pleasing it was more comfortable than I would have first guessed. I sat on the Chaise Lounge enjoying a nice glass of wine with my room service, such a nice touch.

The view was spectacular as always, the Miami harbor view is one of the best in the world. The corner desk expanded the spacious room even more.

Unfortunately I arrived too late to take a swim or enjoy the Blue Water café with the stunning view however a late evening stroll in the gardens brought back fond memories of my holiday in 2005 with my family.

I dined in the Indigo bar where the Bang Bang pasta was just fantastic – Joey the bartender had my usual drink ready in no time and was just a joy to see. So many thing changes these days, I’m very happy that your staff has not.

The room was spotless, undoubtedly due to the renowned housekeeping staff, security was always present but not intruding and the night maintenance technician was able to help a cyclist that was headed to the same ride as me at five o’clock in the morning!

You just can’t go wrong with this hotel – there is no other home away from home like the Intercontinental Miami.

Thanks for the visit – I promise to be back for a long weekend soon!

Room Tip: Request the harbor view.

This is my fourth time at the Intercontinental in Miami. All of them attending a banker's convention. The hotel is big, very busy with conventions and events and definetly needs to be updated. Personally I don't like hotels as big as that as they tend to become very unpersonal. The rooms are old and even though they have changed the carpet, they look outdated and mine in particular was smelling cigarette and "cheap" perfume. Despite that, the room is big and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was updated and has a very good shower. Unfortunately as most american hotels, the windows do not open and as the fresh air cannot come inside the bad smell gets worse and worse.
Location is good if you are working, otherwise there are much better ones in Miami.
Staff was nice but could be more helpful. Maybe because the hotel was so packed with people. Room service is outstanding, though.

Room Tip: Ask for a non smoking floor and room!

I work in Miami Center; the Hotel adjoins the office tower via connected lobbies. This review focuses mainly on the spa/fitness center facilities, from the perspective of a regular member.

About a year ago, I joined the MySpa Fitness Center, and have been so pleased with my membership there. It's a great place to stop in for a workout or to relax in the steam room, sauna, or poolside. One of the unique and fantastic aspects of the gym is that they provide your work-out gear: shirt, shorts, socks, shoes, and sports bra for ladies. This is a HUGE convenience both for regulars, and for travelers who don't have to pack bulky sneakers and work out clothes.

Recently, the Fitness Center sponsored a fun contest to award the person who visited the gym the most times before Thanksgiving. That extra motivation to get to the gym helped me break through a fitness plateau and lose 5lbs! Great motivation! Catherine and all of the staff are friendly, professional, and a pleasure to see every day.

The gym's cardio machines have televisions, and they face the windows looking out on downtown Miami and Bayfront Park. The windows provide nice natural light for workouts.

Location: the hotel is located on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami, bordering Bayfront Park. For business clients or people who are in town for litigation matters, I always recommend this hotel. I would also recommend it for people who are planning to cruise out of the Port of Miami, or attend events at the American Airlines Arena. The causeway that takes you to South Beach is also nearby.

Gym and spa, overall: For my colleagues and friends downtown, I would not hesitate to recommend the fitness center. The ambiance of the spa facility is very relaxing. The fitness center, while not huge, has a good variety of free weights, weight machines, and cardio machines. The gym provides plenty of fresh towels, plus the work-out clothes, and the use of a locker while you work out or get a massage.

Price: The price of the membership is fair; the spa services also seem to be priced about the same as other hotel spas, but MySpa often runs promotions that make them an especially good deal. They also have packages which include monthly massages and other services. While I have not opted that that, the prices for those memberships are also fair.

The showers are stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shaving cream. I don't like the smell of the shaving cream, but that's about my only complaint.

The other aspects of the hotel that I can review are the restaurant in the lobby, and the cafe by the pool. At the restaurant in the lobby, I have had the buffet lunch, which is not cheap, has a good variety, whether you want to eat light or have a feast. The food at the cafe by the pool is just OK (I had pizza), but it is enhanced by the amazing view of the bay and port. I would recommend it, just for that reason. Get a window seat.

Thanks so much to the Hotel Intercontinental, and MySpa, for being an essential addition to my health routine and my daily life!
