“Quality and excellence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

We recently stayed in the Intercontinental hotel. As usual, we had an amazing time. Intercontinental has some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. Everyone is very kind and helpful. They are going through renovation, we had the pleasure of staying in one of their renovated suites and it was super. Everything was brand new: Flat screen TV’S, new carpet, electrical blackout and sheers, the bathroom was well remodeled and well done with the new shower heads, they have two shower heads, the cabinets and the closet was big enough to host enough luggages even if you are there for a longer stay. The new décor is great despite of the previous one was very nice as well. Everything is brand new and top quality. The location of the suite was great. The staff is well groomed and cares about their guests and would say hello every time you pass by one of them and eager to assist you and ask if there is anything you need. Their concierge team is one of the best, always helpful and knowledgeable and familiar with the area and what needs to be done and will advise you and your family what could be done and what you will enjoy the most. Just ask and they will let you know and will direct you on how to get there and possibly will advise you what needs to be done. If it is food, they will suggest the restaurant depending on the type of food you are looking for, night life, directions, where to go, what to do…. so they are your encyclopedia when it comes to visiting Miami and area. Ask for Rosello and he will make it happen for you.
The restaurant Indigo is also quite noteworthy. The buffet has a variety of great foods. The breakfast has a variety of food and the people there serving are very knowledgeable and want to help you even if they are not responsible of that section. We had breakfast both days we were there and they remembered us and one some even called us by name, that is service. The omelet cook was super great and not only just ask for the type of omelet you do wish to have by will engage with you in conversation so by the time your omelet is done, you still wish to keep talking to her, and if you are one of those that want to rush, they will even bring it to your table. They had a wide variety of fruits, yogurts, smoked Salmon, cheeses, pastries, cold and hot cereals and abundant of items on their hot buffet area good for vegetarians and non vegetarians and of course feel free to ask for assistance and if it is not there, they would make it for you. The lunch buffet is available on weekdays and it is one of the best lunches in Downtown Miami, everyday is different and certainly will enjoy it either on a business lunch or with your family and friends.
The location, they are close to the Arena if you are ever there for a game or event held in there, walking distance to the small market, dining, entertainment 7 days a week. They are able 10 minutes drive from South Beach and again do not forget to ask the Concierge if you are looking for something special as they will give you the right information.
Also if you wish to pamper yourself, go to their Spa, you will forget about everything else and you will certainly make your stay complete.
I will definitely return to this hotel and anyone who is traveling to Miami should seriously consider staying at the Intercontinental.

At $200 a night, this is double the Holiday Inn a few blocks away. It is a very nice hotel but the nickel and diming is cheezy. They tried to charge me to use the gym, they charge for wifi, and they have the nerve to spam my voicemail with ads for their spa? I let it slide for biz travel but i wouldnt stay here on my tab.

I stayed at the Intercontinental for a conference from October 9-12th. First, the room was decent, don't get me wrong it had a great view. THAT IS IT.
Here are the upsetting parts:
1. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING, NOTHING IS INCLUDED. Even at $200+ a night, you get nothing but a bed and a tv pretty much.
2. You have to pay $15 to use the gym, you have to pay $11-17 just to have wireless (I stayed at a holiday inn express the night before and got free internet!!)
3. No fridge in room, that is unless you want to pay $35 a night for one
4. Bottled water was in the room, AT $8.50 A BOTTLE!! Are you insane, did it come from the fountain of youth? It was standard bottles of water that cost no more than $2 at a store.
5. Maid service, apparently you have to pay gratuity for the maids no matter what they did. We paid $3 a day, which doesn't seem like a lot, but we were quite upset with our maid. She knocked on our door at 1130 PM one night to ask if we wanted turn down service. Are you kidding me?
6. The menu for room service was INSANE. It cost $6 for two pieces of toast. For a bagel with a piece of salmon on it was $20!! The prices were outrageous!!
7. Nothing and I mean NOTHING was included. When I bought internet I told them I wanted ONE NIGHT and I would pay in cash, well that turned into a 30 minute ordeal for them to figure out how to do that.

*All in all it was a beautiful hotel, but the conference, had it not been there, I would not stay there, I do not have plans to go back there, which is a shame as it is in a good spot. But until they give you a little more for your buck, go elsewhere!! I paid half the price to stay at a holiday inn down the street with free internet, and directly across the street from Biscayne Marketplace. Do the research before you stay!

Room Tip: Room rates include NOTHING!!

I had the misfortune of being stuck at this terrible hotel for three nights at a recent conference.
If a rude, snotty staff that alternates between ignoring you and sticking their hand out for a tip- if a place that charges you $40.00 a day to park your car-if a clip joint that adds a $4.00 a day charge to your room "for cleaning" is for you-in other words if you have more money than brains or taste, you will love this dump.
Although you might just want to stand out on Flagler throwing your money in the air and hitting yourself over the head with a hammer-I guarantee you'll have more fun than staying at this pile of junk.

I stayed for 5 days during a work-related conference. The service was impeccable. Every employee I encountered was friendly, helpful and genuine. The hotel was very clean. The meeting space was great - temp was good, food was great. I would come back and stay again for pleasure.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a pool/waterway view

Recently stayed at the intercon Miami for two nights

Nice hotel though the usual glass and marble design though the Henry Moore sculpture in the lobby was nice to look at

Room was ok though nothing special though facilities where good especially the leisure centre

Service in the indigo bar was average at best and the menu choice was again pretty average
Room service menu was also quite limiting and again in my view expensive and I really object to the 20% surcharge as well as the service charge they add

Also coulnt work out why the bar only opened at 11am but you couldn't sit at the tables to get coffee earlier I was meeting a collegue for a meeting prior to meeting someone outside the hotel and in the lobby the furniture is not really that comfortable for that type of setting

Not a bad hotel but have stayed at better intercons at a cheaper rate for 2 nights it's cost including breakfast plus two room service dinners and a couple of drinks in the bar over 800 bucks so you be the judge !!

Great location though and staff where pretty friendly
Also coffee at breakfast and the restaurant was again bloody awful thank god they had a Starbucks onsite

Excellent hotel, excellent location close to the Airport but far enough of the airplanes flying-route. Close to the Malls and to Walmart at Doral. The service at the front desk is expedite with nice personnel. Rooms are nice and big, really clean and comfortable beds, also de the bathroom is clean with good amenity kit and hot and good pressure water. The Breakfast buffet is fantastic you can find everyone choice to eat and with high quality attention of their personnel. Consider it is at Doral so is far away from Miami Downtown and Miami Beach but it is really easy to get to the highway. Really it is a real value price-quality hotel and it is my first option when going to Miami for shopping.
