“Very nice indeed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We had a one night stay at this hotel before boarding our cruise ship.
everything was fine. Room was nice, well decorated, not noisy at all. Bathroom needed an update, but for a night, it was just fine.

It is very close to the Cruise ship terminal, which is good. Even if it's in the downtown district, we could find stores and restaurants open on a saturday morning.

“I don't know what the complaints are about”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

I just returned from a two-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Miami (BCS national championship game). After reading a number of relatively negative complaints on Trip Advisor, I didn't know what to expect.

What I got was a clean, comfortable room (granted, I was in a Miami Suite), with no outside noise (again, granted, I was on the 22nd floor) with excellent service all around.

The hotel is perfectly located for downtown business, attached to the convention center. The Capital Grille is right across the river, for goodness sake. I found that one must be careful in setting up and opening the room safe, but if service is required, the security man is there for you almost immediately.

The valet parking isn't necessarily cheap, but is wonderfully convenient. A quick call from the room before departing ensures the car is ready and waiting for you. The valet guys could not possibly have been more pleasant and helpful.

I had the same delightful experience at the Starbucks counter in the lobby.

Miami can be muggy, even when not overwhelmingly hot - the A/C in the hotel is spot on, thanks to Director of Engineering Phil Hymanson and Al Butkus of Grumman/Butkus engineers in Evanston, IL.

Will definitely return when next in Miami.

Room Tip: I enjoyed the spacious Miami Suite.

“Christmas and New Year Trip”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

On arrival at the Hyatt Regency Down town Miami we were greeted by friendly reception staff who were very helpful.
Rooms were unfortunately very dated however they were always kept clean.
Bathroom was shockingly tiny and the layout of the rooms is odd (we personally thought they could make better use of the space!)
we had a room next to the lift and the ice machine and the noise was unbearable - which we did complain about on several occasions!
we stayed on the 24th floor which is the top and if you stay on this floor or the 23rd you get to make use of the lounge on the 23rd floor (the lady who works on this is lovely - very helpful and extremely friendly!)
In the 23rd lounge they serve a continental breakfast, refreshments etc and in the evening they served cheese, bread, and a few appetizers along with soft drinks and coffees etc. (alcoholic drinks were extra)
one major downside to this hotel is the fact that even as a hotel guest you have to pay for WiFi!
the hotel staff in the bar were friendly - bar shuts at 12 though and even as a guest you cannot get another drink.
the breakfast was nice for the first few days and then you begin to get sick of it as it is EXACTLY the same day in day out (we began not even bothering towards the end!)
The guys who work the valet parking were arrogant and rude - we logged a complaint with the manager at reception and she was outraged at their behaviour and took money off our room bill as a good will gesture!
We had to also complain as our bedroom door had been left open twice by the maids - on returning back at the hotel to find our doors open we were not happy as all our christmas gifts etc could have easily been taken!
Ensure you check your bill and speak to the reception staff immediately if you have any queries as they are more then happy to sort this out for you.
The swimming pool only see's sunlight for a few hours a day so this is also very disappointing!
a five minute walk from the hotel is Brickell which is lovely in the evenings to take a walk to if you don't fancy getting a cab to South Beach!
plenty of restaurants and bars and a lovely atmosphere!
there is also bay-side which is great if your a family or you just want a more relaxed evening!
Bay-side has a hooters, a Mojito Bar, Planet Hollywood and lots of small shops to browse round!
(Bay-side is also within walking distance - roughly 10 mins!)
South beach is approximately 19 dollars in a cab definitely should be no more than 20 dollars depending on traffic!
South beach is buzzing every night of the week (we loved Espanola Way)
All in all we had a fantastic trip but unfortunately we will not be returning to the Hyatt Regency , we will however be returning to Miami!

Room Tip: stay on either the 23rd or 24th floor so you get to use the club lounge! request to be away from th...

“Great location, nice bar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

I stayed two nights for business in January 2012. Check-in was fast. The room was spacious and nice, but a bit outdated. The hotel's location is its redeeming quality. The bar is nice and the service is prompt. There are many very good restaurants closeby.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the surrounding area!

“Not enough sunshine!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Spent 3 nights at the Hyatt with our family from 26th December.
Outside of hotel impressive, check in area really busy but luckily my son was allowed to check in for us when he arrived earlier.
Loved the room, it was spacious and clean, didnt find it dated at all. Decent bathroom and lovely big walk in wardrobe. The only issue is that the balconies are fastened shut, would have been nice to sit outside.
The pool area was small but nice, plenty of towels. We like to spend a lot of time in the sun by the pool but unfortunately because of the surrounding buildings the sun didnt get to the pool till 11.30ish and was gone by 2.30. Also the noise from the road and the bridge opening and closing was a bit too much when you're trying to relax by the pool!
Didnt eat at the restaurant but the bar happy hours were great, staff there were pleasant and the manager made a point of coming up to chat with us every time we were there. Prices steep so only went for happy hour drinks - lovely bar though!
Easy walk to downtown area (dont think I'd go in the dark though) also easy and safe walk to Bayside Marketplace, there is a free people mover that takes you there if you prefer not to walk, there is a direct link to the hotel through the conference center.
Overall it was a decent hotel, my son had a few problems but they were sorted brilliantly. Wouldn't go again (particularly in the winter) purely because of the lack of sunshine but the hotel was fine!
