We will return and will move beyond appetizers. Since this restaurant is FAR from the madding crowd, it has to offer a special experience in order to keep folks driving out to west Kendall. This it does with both the menu and the service, since the decor is dark-ish and unexceptional, and the wine list, though filled with solid "track record" large production choices, doesn't also offer interesting surprises.
Back to what they did well: the service was perfect. Correct timing, just the right balance between professionalism and friendliness.
Two of the three appetizer dishes were extremely delicious - densely and interestingly flavored, which seems to be the chef's signature. My impression is that she strives to serve flavor saturation, and in that, she delivers. The third offering, crabcakes, were not to our liking - more breading than we prefer.
The portions are very generous, so sharing is recommended. We will try some entrees on our next outing; with a larger group this might work. The price point is very high for its location, but perhaps not for the quality and quantity in the dishes. We will be back to further explore this enjoyable dining experience - a surprise in West Kendall.
