I was pretty excited to see some gators and possibly crocodiles while riding on an airboat through the Everglades. This is not what I ended up experiencing. We got a short (maybe 10 minutes) airboat ride into the edge of the Everglades, where our guide stopped and gave us an opportunity to ask questions. After maybe 3 questions were asked our tour guide went on an anti-government rant about mis-management of the parks, unnecessary water bridges, something about the govt blaming things on panthers, and all sorts of other stuff. He made it very clear at the end of the ride that he worked on tips and everyone needed to help him pay his rent. There was a brief animal show after the ride and the guide did a great job engaging the audience, but there were really only 4 animals to show - a large gator, a medium sized gator, a baby gator, and a toad. He also had a scorpion. He very quickly went over the differences of toad & frogs, and gators & crocodiles. After the show we tried to stick around to get a better look at the large Gator and he rudely told us to get out so he could pack up his box and go pick up his kid. I was very put off by the staff - they all seemed very rushed and just looking for a quick tip.
