“Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) Well Worth the Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

Miami should be proud of what the Perez brings to South Florida. This is a first-rate museum in every sense of the word. Architecturally, the museum is stunning and it incorporates all the great views of the intracoastal and the city of Miami skyline. Unusual for an art museum is the amount of light brought into the spaces. To protect the art, certain rooms have special curtains that filter out harmful frequencies but allow light to enter the room.

The collection is eclectic with emphasis on the Caribbean area but you can also find Jasper Johns and Rauschenberg. The museum staff have done an excellent job with their selections and presentations. If you are senior citizen, the $40 yearly membership is a real bargain which also allows you a 10% discount at the museum store and the very good Verde restaurant. Parking is underneath the museum, easily accessible, and costs $4 per hour. The only real problem at the moment is the construction of the Museum of Science next door which is before you get to the Perez.

Be sure to note the "hanging gardens", the magnificent views of the cruise ships in the ship channel, the Miami skyline and Ai Weiwei's Chinese calendar sculptures outside the Perez. Staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful. This is a great place to take out-of-town friends.

“Reflects Miami today”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

This is a small gem of a museum for those who enjoy art. The architecture is stunning and reflects the essence of the Miami environment. It is one of the rare places where you can get an unobstructed view of the bay and the Port of Miami. The museum's focus is contempory art of the Americas. It has a permanent collection, as well as, a number of changing exhibits that add interest to the visit. The cafe is very good, capitalizing on the culture of Miami in their menu choices. Parking very limited. I would recommend researching parking lot options that surround the museum area and transferring onto free MetroMover which drops you off, literally, at their door step. If you have the interest and time I recommend the docent tour; they are free and take about 45 mins., children are not always patient. Perez is my current "vistors destinations" along with Fairchild Tropical Gardens for my guests. Those with children, I take them to Jungle Island and the Children's Museum across the crossway from Museum Park.

“Don't miss the Perez Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

I went to the museum shortly after during the holiday season. It is located on Biscayne Bay with a lovely view. The museum had some great pieces and loved the exhibits. We also dined in the restaurant and had delicious lunch; don't miss the truffle fries. Definitely will go again.

“New Museum in Developing Museum Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

The building and grounds are an architectural feast in themselves. The collections on display covered the gamet from Warhol to names we were unfamiliar with. Very innovative and well worth the entrance fee. They have a garage under the building for $2. And the area around will be developed over the next 2-3 years into a Museum Park.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

You can still smell the paint on this new museum. The special exhibit on Caribbean art was well worth the drive in. Wondering around you come upon gems like pieces by Andy Warhol. Read the explanations carefully-some fascinating art that alludes to subversive activities by the CIA-very subtle and well done. Save time to enjoy the beautiful outside areas.
