Just south of Coral Gables is this fascinating estate. Very much worth the visit. The grounds are immaculate and the home was decorated for the holidays. Don't miss the wine cellar dating form the days of prohibition.
If you like to visit historical sites, this is for you. Small estate with beautiful views and 2 historical homes. One has been rebuilt as it was destroyed in hurricane Andrew. Great walk through mangroves.
There is a nice walk around the grounds and a tour of the house. A few hours to see the entire property. The best time is to go to one of the festivals that are held often on the grounds.
Being from South Florida, I had never been to this place since it was closed for several years after Hurricane Andrew. It is a true hidden gem. The grounds are stunning with amazing views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic. There are so few visitors you don't feel rushed. Pack a picnic and enjoy sitting under the towering royal palms overlooking the grounds. The staff is so friendly and welcoming...unlike the rest of Miami! This is a must-see for visitors and locals alike.
Our Grandson was visiting and as he is a teenager we were looking for something interesting for him to do. Took him to Deering Estate and at first he was quite disappointed due to the mosquitoes being bad as it had recently rained. However, when we got inside he really started to enjoy himself. Even though the buildings have A/C it was still a bit warm but it wasn't a problem. This place was lliterally destroyed by Hurricane Andrew and has been renovated to its original splender. If you get a chance take a self guided tour of Deering Estate, you won't be sorry.
